Beautiful Resort
Exceptionally beautiful resort, with many lovely pools, swim up bars and gorgeous palm trees providing delightful shade. All inclusive food and drinks are plentiful and very good, but not always excellent. Service can be a little indifferent. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, but dark. The veranda is pleasant. The entertainment is not great, but the spaces for outdoor relaxation are gorgeous.

Ladies retreat
I visited El Dorado Royale in February 2025 with 3 friends. We are in our 40s & 50s. We stayed together in the 2 bedroom villa. The service and food were spectacular! I will speak about the highlights. Restaurants: The first evening we dined at Jade, which is at Generations. We shared several different appetizers and entrees. It was all delicious! Sharing is the best way to try all the yummy options! The second evening we dined in the private space in Italia Casitas. We had a wonderful group of servers to assist us. The wine sommelier, Ricardo, helped us select a bottle of wine to match our preference and budget. He also spoke with us about wines in the region. Ed was our main server. He was very attentive and hospitable. We also spent an evening at the chef's table at the Wine Kitchen which was also at Generations. We were amazed at the amount of attention and assistance we received. The chef discussed each dish with us and the sommelier, Omar, selected a wine to pair with each dish. Eduardo and Alma were excellent servers. The experience was phenomenal! The fee was well worth the experience! We enjoyed lunches at Kick, La Isla and the pizzeria. All were very enjoyable. Breakfast at Coccital was incredible! We took a 1/2 day catamaran and snorkeling tour. A shared van was provided for our transportation to Maroma. The water was a little rough that day, so only 1 of us snorkeled. We saw a sea turtle from the boat which was a highlight! The ride itself was enjoyable. There was plenty of alcohol flowing, but I can't say it was very good. We visited the spa at El Dorado Casitas twice. Once we experienced the water journey. The spa experience was wonderful. All of us were pleased with our massages and the facilities. During our stay, we had 3 butlers- Gaby, Alondra, and Miriam. These ladies left no stone unturned! They picked us up prior to each spa and dinner reservation to drive us there. They made sure we were always taken care of! Overall, our experience was extraordinary! We are ready to book our trip for next year!

A day pass to the spa!
We’ve been frequenting this resort for over three years, often with friends and family. However, this time, our experience was vastly different. The price had increased, and the options for the “day pass” restaurant had dwindled to just one. This was a significant shock to us, and we kindly requested an exception, which they graciously granted. Nevertheless, it leaves us uncertain about what to expect in the future. It feels like there’s been a change in management, as there have been numerous alterations. This time, we left feeling slightly disappointed rather than relaxed.

Will not return
We had booked a swim up casita for 5 nights. Upon arrival at 3 p.m., we were told that the casitas were overbooked, and we were told we would have to go to the Generations resort. We had booked a Casita as it is adults only, and we were forced to go to Generations, which is a family resort. I did not agree at first, but I was told we had no other options than to go to Generations for 2 nights. We received a whole 250 credit, which is nothing for all the hassle. The first night at generations the air conditioner ran on high and we were unable to shut it off. I could not call the front desk as the room phone was broke. The next morning, we wake up to a leaking bathroom ceiling to pieces of the ceiling on the floor. They moved us to another room at generations. After the 2nd night, we were told we would move to casitas. I called to have our luggage picked up and bell service said I had to go check out at generations. We finally get to the front desk at genrations and i was told no you don't have to check out. Due to the time it took, we missed an excursion. Day 3, we finally got to the room we booked and they did upgrade the casita to an ocean front. It was not worth all the trouble we had gone through. When I contacted our travel agency, I was told this is a common happening at this resort as they overbook often. This had been our 3rd time to the resort over the past 5 years. With the change in management, it has drastically went down hill.

Please, someone help me!
The purpose of this review is hoping that someone will finally help me, a former guest who stayed January 2025. I have called the resort no less than 15 times trying to get in touch with the on-site doctor's office, who I had to visit while I was a guest. Each and every time I've called I've been hung up on. Some claim they're transferring me, some insist I call back so that someone else has to deal with, not a single person will give me the direct number or email of the doctor, which I know he has because it's written in his office. So PLEASE, will someone help? Is this possible? I would like to update my review to reflect my experience as a guest, but, as of now, will leave it to reflect my experience in getting help from the resort.
