    lacking in so many places.

If you want non modern and relaxation this is for you. this is a very old population at this resort. mostly couples above 60. we felt very out of place. The hotel is lacking in ALOT of places. slow service. food was good. with a no tipping policy you get that. the beds are OLD, with mattress toppers. we had a bathroom issue and it took Maintenace 5 hours to fix it. the beach was fantastic but saldy we will never return there. the resorts "contact us" for issues never respond and do not care. they got their money. Ill stick to a higher resort thats worth the money we paid. do not go.

A Great Beach Makes Our Week

We have been visiting Negril since the late 80s, but this was our first time at Couples Negril. We chose this place because it was a bit less expensive than our usual Negril home, and for the nude beach. We found the resort to be comfortable and just the right size for us. We don't like huge resorts. They were decorated for the holiday season and at night the place looked great! Our room was what we expected. Nothing spectacular, but clean and comfy and far enough away from the nightly entertainment that we could crash early if we wanted. The room attendants were very pleasant and efficient. Absolutely no issues with their work. The beach was wonderful. We've found some beaches in Negril have a lot of muck and weeds below the water, but this beach was sandy all the way to the end of the roped off area. The water was where most people chatted and socialized. There is a full beach bar and an area where lunch is delivered 5 days a week. Burgers, patties, jerk chicken, fries...a nice lunch that kept you on the beach. There was also a hot tub in the nude area, but no pool. We spent most of our days here and had a laid-back, relaxing time. We are not "foodies" and are pretty easy to please in that department. The food here was fine. Nothing spectacular, but we never went hungry. I love akee & saltfish, which is Jamaica's national dish, but it was only on the breakfast buffet one day. The rest of the buffet was what you'd expect, basically a Holiday Inn Express with a nice omelette station. The dinner restaurants were also just okay. Except for Otaheite, which was a very special dining experience and the highlight of our trip! We noticed that, with a few exceptions, the staff were just doing their jobs. Nothing to complain about, but no personalities that jumped out. The bartenders at the main bar seemed to be ignoring us at first. Then I noticed them promptly serving the people who were tipping them. None of the other bars had this issue. Sonia, the guard at the nude beach was a sweetheart. We enjoyed chatting with her most days. (She did have to tap one of us on the shoulder one day and remind them that it was not a clothing-optional beach ... you had to be naked). Our bartender at the nude beach was also delightful, and we, of course, never got her name. But look her up and try her Dirty Banana! Will we return? We started out our stay by thinking no, but by the time we were ready to leave we decided yes. The beach experience was good enough to bring us back if we head to Negril again.

Quiet resort. Not for young couples. Old and classic .

Couples negril is a very calm and quiet resort. Crowd is mostly retired. Clean and tranquil grounds, rooms are clean as well. The entire resort has an old , jungle like feel. Nothing fancy but really good. Beach is nice. Employees at the buffet and bar could do a little better. But given that tips are not allowed, I get why they don’t have a sense of urgency. I loved the dining room servers at Cassava. They really stood out, they are nice and friendly and that made our trip, Dean the Supervisor is such a good guy, Donna was very very sweet and the hostess was so engaging she booked us at the fine dining restaurant “Ottehiti” ( sp may be wrong ) and we had a romantic dinner 😊I am so grateful for that. The grill is an ok for me and the pool bar tenders were nice. Entertainment was at night , live music and dancing. Not much to go around though. If you like to be entertained this is not for you. Even the pool has no music, you see the same folks everyday reading 📖.

    Couples Negril – December 2024 – A Mixed Bag

We stayed at Couples Negril for seven nights in December 2024. While the resort had some great highlights, the overall experience didn’t fully meet our expectations in a few key areas. Arrival Upon arriving in Montego Bay, we took advantage of the resort’s complimentary shuttle service. The shuttle van was cramped, and the bumpy, two-plus-hour journey to the resort made for an uncomfortable beginning to our vacation. Accommodations The resort felt more modest than expected for a four-star or five-star property. It consists of several three-story buildings without elevators, which could pose challenges for guests with mobility concerns. Additionally, the property shows visible signs of wear and tear, which detracts from its overall charm. Our initial room was a spacious beachfront suite in Building 9. Unfortunately, persistent noise from nearby generators disrupted our stay. After a day, the staff was accommodating and relocated us to a quieter suite. The Beach The beach was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip. The calm, turquoise waters and soft, rock-free sandy bottom made it one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever visited. It was ideal for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the serenity of the Caribbean. Entertainment The Silver Birds steel orchestra was amazing but in general, the entertainment options at Couples Negril were underwhelming and lacked the energy and variety we’ve experienced at other resorts. Activities and Sports We did, however, enjoy some of the complimentary activities offered by the resort. The private tennis lessons and group tennis clinics were excellent, and the opportunity to try hobie cat sailing and windsurfing added to the fun. Restaurants Dining at Couples Negril was a mixed experience: • Private Beach Dining: Using resort credit, we arranged a private beach dining experience, which was exceptional and one of the most memorable parts of our stay. • Breakfast: We typically dined at the Cassava Terrace buffet. While the food was decent, the selection was limited compared to five-star resorts in Mexico. Some items were not replenished promptly, which was disappointing. • Lunch: The Beach Grill provided fairly good lunch options, and we particularly enjoyed the daily self-serve soup station located near the ice cream machine. • Dinner: For dinner, we alternated between OtaHeite, Lychee, and Cassava Terrace. While there was a good variety of dishes, the quality was inconsistent—some meals were fantastic, while others fell short. Service The service at Couples Negril was one of the most disappointing aspects of our stay. Having stayed at several five-star resorts in Mexico, we had higher expectations. Unfortunately, many staff members appeared to do the bare minimum, and beach-side drink service was virtually non-existent. On multiple occasions, we encountered indifferent attitudes throughout the resort. One notable exception was Romano at the Front Desk, who went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. His attentiveness was a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster service experience. A more consistent, proactive approach from the staff would go a long way in elevating the guest experience. Final Thoughts Couples Negril offers a stunning beach and a tranquil, tropical setting, but it falls short in terms of service, dining quality, and overall polish. While we enjoyed certain aspects of our stay, it may not fully satisfy the expectations of travelers accustomed to high-end, luxury resorts.

    Great resort, Bad bus trip

This was our first time at a Couples resort and our first time in Jamaica. The resort was great. The food was very good. The beach and water were perfect. The staff was great. The activities were good. But, the bus ride from the airport to the resort was HORRIBLE. It took us over 4 hours to get from the airport to the resort, including 3 hours for just the first few miles in Montego Bay. Couples obviously has no control over traffic, so I don't hold it against them at all, I just want to make people aware that sometimes the traffic can be a nightmare. From what the bus driver told us, this has a tendency to happen on Monday evenings (when we flew in) and Friday evenings, so please avoid those times at all costs. I wish we had known. Our drive told us our trip was the worst he had seen, but that he had other trips that were over 3 hours during those times. But... once we got to the resort, everything was great! The bus ride didn't ruin our trip at all.
