This was my second time at this resort and it certainly did not disappoint!!!!!!! Everyone at this resort made us feel like Queens the entire week we were so spoiled!!! We have been travelling to Mexico for the past 15 years staying in various resorts, this one by far is the best!! The beach is the best I've ever seen in this part of Mexico. beautiful soft white sand, no rocks in the water, very little sargassum. The grounds are very well kept and very pretty. Yes, the Coati are a nuisance however, people need to stop feeding them and they would stop begging and stealing people's food. Check in - We were met by Ruben who turned out to be a great wealth of knowledge as our week went on. Since we arrived early in the day our room was not ready until 3pm which we expected and no big deal, we still had full use of the facilities. Once our room was ready Ruben took us on a tour and to our room. During our stay he took us on a couple tours of the property explaining everything as we went. We made a point of going up to the lobby every morning just to say "hello" and to see his smiling face. Rooms - We stayed in building #5 which is very close to the beach, pool and restaurants. Our room was absolutely beautiful and just what we had requested. Beds are very comfortable, soft sheets, fluffy pillows and towels. Housekeeping does a great job of keeping rooms clean. Restaurants - we DID NOT have one bad meal !!! My only complaint was I ate way too much!! We had breakfast every morning at BLoved - special thanks to all the staff for their amazing service, most of whom remembered me from my visit last year. Bernabe, Alejandra, Quirino, Janeth. We also ate lunch and dinner there a couple of times during our stay, the food is absolutely amazing. During our dinner visit my travel partner's sandal broke. (hahaha) Well.. our waitress Karla came to her rescue by bringing her a pair of slippers so she wouldn't have to barefoot. We also ate at a few of the a la carte restaurants - special shout out to the following: Mamma Mia - Theodoro Borromeo and Leonardo Terrace - Gabrielle Ayami - Kevin Bartenders - Fernando Cruz - and the gentleman that served us on the beach (I'm sorry I did not write down his name) they made sure we were never without a beverage in our hand. Guest services............ these ladies went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure our trip was a success. Special thanks to Consuelas and Arantza you both made our visit memorable and we felt like queens the entire week.

Sweet “BUT”
Nice place but we found the reservation system is so bad to get into the other restaurants and many complained. IT is not a hard system to make this holiday easier to make these reservations. If they tried. Privileged only get into one restaurant and pool which is loaded with children. Don’t get us wrong this place great for family but with no adult pool not for me. Is it worth the extra funds? Lots that don’t pay to be around our special pool. New Years bash was a the hugest flop I have ever seen in my 45 years of traveling the world. No dance floor, but music is what staff enjoy . They sell bottles of wine and table for a show, for a huge price? Show was not there. Us,,,the baby boomers buying these over priced tables. Not some younger that enjoys head banging music. Where I come from they have a large variety of music. The show was maybe up of some dance group that watch to much tv shows on dancing. Came to the stage once every two or more hours. Staff was great every where and after battle with the unpleasant lady at the grill, we got into the grill after going back to customer service. Due to trying and trying to make res. Tons of open tables from start to finish, so was not full as she said. Ivan had to be a true rep on how all staff should be towards customers. He was the waiter who took over after the upset host sat us down with frowns. The burger place was ok but the fries or wedges were ice cold sent back and came tough and had to be microwave. But the burger was hot and good. Why no pool services for drinks ?… afraid to let your guest drink into your proFits?… Room was great, housekeeper was also very good. She made our fresh and we thank her very much, great job. Pool where we had privilege had not been cleaned since 31 had one gal to clean outside of pool she just swam around thinking she was a customer. Oh yes talk about the people smoking e cigs around the pool too.As a professional Manger of huge construction company it boils down lack of supervision. In the end if these two staff did not fulfill our vacation we would not even give a star.

Poor
The resort was very boring the service was pretty bad. I will never return to this resort. There were no fun family activities. I have never been so disappointed in an all-inclusive resort. I do not recommend this resort. The music was terrible.

Another Wonderful Stay at the Catalonia Playa Maroma
Another awesome stay at our home away from home. The staff is the best and always make our vacations special. Bernabe in B'Loved, Judith at the buffet (prior B'Loved), Maite and Oscar from the entertainment team, Quirino at B'Loved and Ruben from the bellhop are phenomenal. Ruben took us on a tour as we were leaving and showed us things we had never seen before on our prior vacations at the resort. Consuelas from guest services, a special thanks for making all our restaurant reservations! Already looking forward to our next stay at this wonderful Catalonia Resort.

I would return.
I forgot to post this review from last year. But just had clients there and it still stands to be true. I loved the it!!! It is a solid 4* property. And yes, I will be returning as this is my type of resort. (I do not like huge sprawling properties) Property: gorgeous. Lots of jungle and plants. Great paths to walk and run on. Lots of wildlife including monkeys. There is a long peaceful walking path from the main lobby to the pool and beach - just beautiful. Pool: good. I thought there would be issues getting chairs, absolutely not the case. Loved the different sections in the one pool. Easy entrance for those with mobility issues. Pool bar made great drinks. Beach: phenomenal. Amazing sunrises. It had lots of chairs and also had mobility access for wheelchairs. Food: solid. Buffet was good quality but not a HUGE selection. Lots of Mexican (which I love). The al la cartes were decent. Loved the Mexican. The Tapas, good but not exceptional, and The Grill was good. Loved the taco bar and the food trucks. The Pizzeria was good but they need to cook the dough longer. They serve Pepsi products here, which is a huge bonus for me and there is a self serve machine near the Palapa Bar and that made a huge difference. We brought our own cups with us. Rooms: we upgraded to Privilege and were in the COBA section. The room was HUGE and the ground level was lovely. It was very quiet. Room came with a scale so you can weigh yourself at the beginning and end of your vacation. Bed was comfy. TV mostly got Spanish channels but we streamed movies at night. Privilege: upgrade your clients to the Privilege. The BeLoved restaurant was really good quality and service. Seperate section on the beach with beach service. Things that I liked a lot - quiet and respectful - solid food - upgrade to Privilege - great service - old world charm. Dark wood. Very traditional. - fantastic beach with gorgeous white sand - you can walk for miles on the beach - very lush with a jungle atmosphere and lots of palm trees - lots of places to sit and relax - has good support for mobility challenged - decent entertainment at night: lobby, theatre shows, and around the resort (beach party, foam party) - amazing shops and services -it is just a beautiful well kept property. -there are lots of "hidden" surprises -Coffee Shop -Aroma- was cute -they do have a gym -they do have a wedding coordinator. Questionable things - not alot for kids to do. Small playground that looked like a prison. - The Coati are relentless - we had sargassum a few days while we were there. - lots of walking. - there is no quiet pool for those who like peace and quiet during the day. Clientele when I was there -older clients. 40ish and above but a fair amount of over 70yrs -not alot of kids. -mostly couples -Italian, German, French, Spanish. Mostly European. Some Canadian and American. -no issues. Everyone kept to their own space and were respectful. -I find that a smile is universal 🙂
