Apr 22, 2025Worst hotel i have visited
No real fruit juice just concentrates. Limited food choices at breakfast, lunch and dinner. No shower gel was provided. Maintenance of mini bar was not done. Keep details was not executed by house keeping. After the room was cleaned basic items that were missing or finished were not replenished.

Everything there was just wonderful expecially the food. Our room was always clean and fresh. The staff were so nice, warm and helpful to us. The check in process was simple and flawless. The entertainment was just right, i.e. not too little and never overburdening either. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be returning next year.

Do Not Book Here - Pay the extra money and book Rui down the Road ! I will start with positives - It’s clean and ground staff work hard to keep it nice, the beach areas are nice along with the island and water sports team. It stops there. Staff Rude and most are miserable, no smiling faces here,there is a real morale problem here with the staff, probably underpaid, I will say jerk bar staff excellent service and food and some buffet staff ok but all other bar staff rude and unfriendly, Especially if your English, The bar staff will treat you badly especially main pool bar, was worst, make you wait for your drinks and people joining queue later would get served before the English, Main pool bar man would make cocktails and not even mix them if you were English ! Dispute tipping and being polite will not change their attitude towards you, they don’t even say thanks when you tip them ! Or even speak. There are People on kayaks selling weed parked up in the water in front of you on the beach and pier also boundary walls at adult end, we are talking about 3 kayaks that stay there from morning to night just starring at you which is uncomfortable feeling, this leads to constant smell of weed on the beach’s , and hotel blocks and around pool areas. Which nothing against it, if it’s your thing, but you couldn’t get away from it and hotel / security staff sat by and watched. The rooms are very dated, and we were in the privileged block 6 ! God knows what other blocks like, Balcony door needed two hands a-good pull to open, shower rail about to come off the wall, door latch about fall off, no hot water 2 days and only Luke warm, room had bad condensation issues sofa old and stained, My wife hair dryer / straighteners were not compatible to there supplied voltage along with here medical device so be aware. Plug sockets were burnt with black stains in the room. Hotel staff search through your draws, my wife found blood on her clothes, so Knew someone had been through it,when you go to buffet they ask you for your room number which I thought was strange they then know you not in your room ! There was some guest in arguments with staff as they caught them out, I witnessed hotel Staff pulling draws out when passing a room on my floor when going back one day mid morning. The food is same everyday from buffet,No food after 10pm anywhere which is a joke! Has 3 restaurants we went to the Italian which was not great, went to Jamaican and was a joke, wanted to sit on terrace as all empty but as English placed by the entrance door with fan causing flashing lights, so left as they wouldn’t move us. It’s hard to get drinks in the morning as coffee pot not filled and orange drinks not filled on opening times sometimes waiting 30’mins passed the opening time same with bars should open at 10 more like 10:30 time they set up, snack/ ice cream bar served us mouldy bread with our cheese sandwich! Positives Omelette making staff in the morning were great and nice. The entertainment was not great but what you expect from 3 star I guess, Rui had Great parties as we found out when on trips, all entertainment Over by 10pm, pools closes 6pm winds down 5:45, not great, 6:30pm would have been better. The road noise was horrendous as motorway runs close to the hotel, so from 5am you get people beeping horns as that’s what they do in Jamaica, lorry’s horns are very loud and some of the engines and gear changes are so so loud. Not hotel thought but something to be aware off. In summary Pay extra and stay somewhere else, we still paid a lot of money for 2 week stay here. Will not be returning.

Family trip
Rooms were very clean, the grounds were impeccable, hard-working staff, food was exceptional, unlimited à la cartes, and the buffet was stand out above other buffets I've had. It is a family resort, and that's what we were looking for, there is still entertainment later in the evenings in the nightclub upstairs. Overall experience a strong four plus Stars

Lovely stay
Recently had a lovely stay at the Catalonia. Staff so friendly and helpful. Food great! Beach was lovely and clean. We loved the little island and the water was so clear and shallow enough my five year old could easily walk over. They have recently refurbished the gym which is amazing. Thanks Elsa & Serena at kids club! My daughter loved spending her afternoons with you enabling to get out of the heat for a few hours! Thank you again! She loved all the activities you provided, and I was able to leave her knowing she was happy and safe. Xx
