The resort location is one of the kind of places You will have a access to the ocean for a mile There is no crowded beach and everyone has a private spot to enjoy vacation The Catalonia resort is going to be a next destination for our family and friends vacation in the future Thank you all who worked at the resort

    It is ok, but..

We liked this resort. But there are some setious issues. For the people who enjoy swimming this is not the right place. The ocean here is very very shallow, less than 1m depth, mostly knee depth. There is a very nice reef about 100m behind the island, but they won't let you swim there, start whistling. We wish they would find the way for the hotel's guests to explore this reef. Because the water is very shallow- there is no any water fun- no banana boat or a sailing- none. They have only cayaks that you should use only inside of the small area near the beach where the depth is up to the knees. Most of the water has a sea grass. Every afternoon we had a low tide- literally nowhere to swim. Service is very good, we loved a Beloved restaurant at the beach. Thank you, Sasha and Shion for you outstanding work! Thank you, chefs! The food is delicious there. Thank you, gardeners and cleaning staff, great jo b! Several times we saw a local guy in his 60s on the beach, ( not on the water, but on the land)- he demanded money ( go to your room and bring me $10), There are a lot of security on this property- who let him in? He had a rake, pretending being a gardener, " cleaning a sea", but of course he was not. One more time- where was a security??( " adults pool side of the resort). Overall it is a nice place if you don't care about swimming. Luminous lagoon was very nice to visit. Sunsets are really beautiful here!

    Cousins Trip 2025

I picked this hotel because I stayed at the one in Mexico and it was awesome! The price and location were perfect! I do appreciate that they told me up front that they recent acquired this hotel (formerly Holiday Inn), and that they had plans for quite a few renovations. With that being said, this was a decent getaway for my cousin and I as it was her FIRST trip out of the country. Since this time of year (March) is considered their slow season, it was plenty of room at the pool, on the beach, at the buffet, and at the specialty restaurants (reservations required for these). It was a nice and easygoing vacay. The Jerk hut was delicious; the burger and fry shack was great too! The ice cream spot was very much welcomed during our sunbathing. With that being said, when peak season hits, hopefully renovations will be completed AND another specialty restaurant can be added to make 4 restaurant options in addition to Bloved (members only). Also, it would be helpful to have other options on the buffet, as well as a way to keep the food hot. Overall a good stay; close proximity to the airport, clean rooms with an awesome AC system, comfortable mattress, for a great nights sleep.

    Long story long

I’ll go in detail further but the: The pros: most of the staff, beach access, some of the food, safety, views from room, no pushy salespeople for spa, timeshare, excursions. The cons: one working elevator, pools close at 6 pm, dress code for buffet restaurant, beach towels availability very limited, liquor is not top shelf, playground closed (if you have kids), staircases outdated, front desk/guest services did not answer phones from guest rooms. Most of the staff is amazing. Some have that visible disdain and bad attitude while others excelled and went above and beyond. Our housekeeper and ladies at the Jerk Shack were very friendly. Javane, Anthony, Andrew & Demarco were the sweetest, attentive, funny, friendly and always respectful. The rest of the serving staff were not rude but dry and unpleasant. The adults’ only pool was a great place to hang out, music, vibes, etc, the only thing it’s that it also closes at 6 pm, mgmt should consider keeping it open until later and maybe adding some entertainment by that area geared towards adults. For the towels, if you don’t get to the towel area by say 11 am, your chances of a getting beach towel is very unlikely. We opted to just keep ours and air dry them in the room for next day. Regarding the safety, there was never a concern. Rooms seemed secure, common areas as well and most of the male staff checked on us when in the walkways, elevator and hallways. It’s a decent value but there is definitely room for improvement. Some of the people that work there make up for some of the areas that they lack. I’m not a big drinker so I’m not going to review on that part. I did notice that the liquor used is definitely not top shelf, very inexpensive quality. The beer seemed to be a better option. The food…it was for the most part good. The Jamaican dishes were the best obviously, the other food items were hit or miss. The jerk chicken & pork at one of the bars was phenomenal. And the Japanese theme restaurant was also great.
