Truly paradise. The hotel and accommodations were better than expected given the remote location. The food was wonderful.

Barcelo Tambor did not live up to 4*. There was no one to greet or help with luggage on arrival. Food is not great and the rooms in hotel are very dated and certainly not a 4* resort.

Although beachfront, the beach is rocky and the water is not comfortable for swimming. Rooms were confortable, but food experience was marginal at best. Limited fresh fish (only tuna, unless you have sushi at the al a carte), glasses, cups and flatwear were often absent with no staff in sight to replace them. Staff were not friendly or proactive in support of guests. Very few staff speak english and we were left to fend for ourselves regularly.

Needs improvement
The rooms needs to be upgraded. This is NOT a typical all inclusive hotel. The alcohol is limited and the food is pretty much the same everyday, unless you go to one of the restaurants. The overall staff is not friendly. The premium level is NOT worth it.

Overall, the experience was average. The big NO for me and my family was the customer service. Most of the staff had unfriendly expressions, not a single smile, and they made faces of annoyance if you asked them for a favor. As for the food, there was very little variety at the buffet, and the worst part for me was the hygiene. On several occasions, I saw groups of green flies on the food, and I even found one in my salad while eating, which ruined the mood for everyone at our table. Everything else was good. The entertainment, pools, green areas, beach, and activities kept us very happy.
