    A Tired Hotel in a Busy Area.

    This hotel is in an industrial/commercial area with nothing within walking distance. The rooms are tired, although the public areas have been refurbished, and look Polynesian. The traffic can be noisy, and the air quality is poor. The restaurant serves rather predictable food that doesn't change much. The hotel appeals to large tour groups, so breakfast can be frantic. The toxic cleaning materials they use can produce an allergic reaction in some people.

    Barcelo stay

    Beautiful hotel about a 15 minute drive from city centre. Not walkable due to highway. $10 US taxi ride. Grounds are lovely and complimentary shuttle to airport. Would definitely stay here again.

    Grateful for the Barcelo experience

    The service was overall amazing. Mostly a friendly staff who attended to quite every need of us. From the bell boys to reception to especially the cleaning staff. I am very pleased with the hospitality, the level of care with what my questions and concerns were handled, and the assistance. A special thank you to waitress Mayela Hernandez for her on hands approach in giving us a great treatment in the restaurant.

    10 day experience at Barcelo

    I really have nothing negative to say about our stay at Barcelo. It was everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel! It was also my birthday and I got a nice surprise in my room when I got back. Cake and champaigne. Thank you Barcelo, Costa Rica.

    Helpful service, upgraded to eat breakfast and dinner. Beautiful grounds are surrounded by tall palm trees, paths of foliage and the occasional bird around the pool. Be sure you tip the amazing piano player and be sure you reserve your airport shuttle no later than the day before. It runs exactly each hour. The staff will assist with excursions and their transportation.
