Barcelo San Jose/Tambor: Our mid-Feb stay at Barcelo San Jose CR was excellent. Room was clean and spacious. Buffet restaurant was very good value and service staff (Davey) was 10+. Check-in/out was a breeze. Perfect place to start and end a Pura Vida tour. BTW, we also stayed at Barcelo Tambor property and rate it also 10+. Both are a great accommodations for it's value for the price.

We stayed at the Barceló San José as part of a Caravan tour. The hotel is very nice and our room was spacious and comfortable. The grounds are lush and attractive and there's a short paved walkway through the vegetation. The only disappointment was with the buffet offerings. We don't set the bar very high for hotel buffets but this one was mediocre at best. Choices were pretty uninspired and often rather picked over. There's a Japanese restaurant in the hotel that is quite good.

Great service
Anfora en el hotel Barceló fue estupendo. Mi hijo es ciliaca con alergias al gluten. Ánfora at hotel Barceló was great. Very accomdating. My son is cyliac cans very allergic to gluten. Our server, Maykel was very attentive to the details. He was a great server. He made sure you everything was prepares to avoid cross contamination.

Great experience
This was my first time in Costa Rica. Markel in the dining area was very helpful and kind. He made it feel like home and answered all my questions professionally. He gave great beer recommendations (Pilsen) and it was very tasty and refreshing.

First visit to Costa Rica from America
Maykel Cerdas made our stay at the hotel and restaurant exceptional! He had wonderful suggestions on great tasting beverages and was very helpful throughout our stay. He has a great attitude and you can tell he takes pride in his job. He is a top notch person and the establishment should be proud to have him as an employee!
