We loved the Barcelo, and would definitely return to this resort. The staff was always so friendly, the vegetation was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting at the pool. The bar staff serving the pool were very efficient. The food was excellent. Our check-in and check-out was done very efficiently.

Nuestro primer massage y puedo decir que con gusto lo Vuelvo a hacer. Yolanda y Brenda lo mejor que nos toco en esta nuestra primera experiencia aqui en Barcelo resort. Gracias Yolanda y Brenda, son lo mejor. ❤️ Our first massage and I can say that I gladly do it again. Yolanda and Brenda the best we have in this our first experience here at Barcelo resort. Thank you Yolanda and Brenda, they are the best. ❤️

Disappointed in the overall atmosphere and entertainment! Breakfast had the best omelette to order, lunch was just ok but the specialty restaurants try to do fancy meals but not much variety on the menu. The bars and drinks were good!

Mar 05, 2025Lack of enforcing policy… smoking and kids
Start by saying Ixtapa is my favorite vacation spot…..It’s my 8 stay at bareclo but this experience has not been wonderful. Very sad… food quality has gone down especially the evening food.. the pool and pool bar areas have changed. People SMOKING all around the pool daily, kid sitting and swimming in bar pool. Which they say is not allowed. A very dissatisfying experience. Especially the SMOKING., I’ve told and inquired and was told it’s not allowed but yet the staff does nothing about it! And I’m here fo another week ! Ohhhhh well….Definitely am done coming to the bareclo.

Had a lovely time at this resort which is situated near shops and restaurants and a short taxi ride to the town of Zihuatanejo. The weather was glorious,the staff were friendly and attentive and the pool area was inviting. A few downfalls were the activities were always in Spanish so you were unaware of what was exactly taking place and for a vegetarian there were very limited options for food. Not sure if this happens in every resort but people were getting up at 4 am and staking claims to chairs….
