Jorman - Cocktail Waiter Pool & Beach

We had a great stay at the Barcello in Aruba! Beach was beautiful and we had great service from Jorman ! He remembered our drink orders and came by frequently to check on us! We enjoyed all the service and friendly conversation! Hope to be back next year!

Jorman - Cocktail Waiter Pool & Beach

We had a fabulous time at Barceló! Jorman was great and helped us with all Our needs. Always around when we needed a drink and super friendly. He made our stay very enjoyable and hope To see him when we return back! Highly recommend Aruba and barcelo as well! All staff was friendly but Jorman went above and beyond!

For us, still a good place

We love the location. We love the people (both employees and guests). But as you will read in other reviews - it is time for a refresh - not only the rooms but also the dining. We have stayed previously at the Riu Palace and their buffets are probably two or three times larger with way more variety. (that is probably the only thing the Riu does better than the Barcelo) We are already talking about coming back next year so it isn't enough to keep us from going back... This year - for some strange reason the hotel would not let us put our rented umbrella wherever we wanted on the beach. (Very odd since it is a public beach.) The lounge chairs are getting a bit worn and saggy (led to some back pain).... and yes, people are insane and get up in the middle of the night to save chairs and palapas. Not sure what would be a good solution to stop that madness. Yes, we end up going out to eat quite a bit - but oh my goodness - Palm Beach has some absolutely AMAZING restaurants! Every hotel is going to have it's pros and cons....so you have to weigh what matters most to you. Barcelo works for us but may not for others. Some people have commented on the noise.... overall the crowd at Barcelo seems to be a bit older at least when we go in late January - so we haven't noticed a lot of noise. We also choose rooms that face the pool - not sure if they are quieter?

    Not going back

Spent the week at Barcelo (late Jan) and will not be back. It was relatively quiet at the hotel but you still could not find pool or beach chairs as of 6 am! The food is subpar. The restaurants have odd hours and there is no place to get something any time of the day. Can't make reservations until you are on-property. This meant 8-9 pm dinner times. (Not good for someone who normally eats at 5.) Room service is available but not included in the all-inclusive. The food was so bad we decided to eat off property many times. Do not order a margarita from this place. In fact, skip the mixed drinks. We tried a few an they were all horrible. The rooms were quite loud. A local establishment blasted music starting at 10pm and running past midnight EVERY night. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Some of the staff is fantastic, others don't care.

    Nice resort

Overall beautiful resort. This was our second visit. Great: staff (Marolyn, Daniel, Margaret) restaurant food, location, pool & hot tub. Good: lounges, rooms, amenities. Needs work - Buffet- more variety each day; some spiffing up of decor - slightly dated. Restaurants (in order of best to least) - all good! 1. Japanese - order at table. Jazon was wonderful as was the food. Faves - Thai noodles, octopus appetizer. 5 spice shrimp, Beef dish. 2. Italian - great server. Ordered lots of appetizers (yum the ravioli) seafood pasta! 3. Seafood restaurant- sit outside. Douglas - great server. Loved calamari appetizer & salmon dish 4. Japanese Hibachi - very good but my young grandchild was afraid of loud noise and fire. 5. Mexican - very good but small portions . Order several appetizers. I had chimichangas. 6. Buffet: orders freshly cooked eggs & had oatmeal/fruit for breakfast. Lunch salad with protein. Dinner just soso - fish veggies. Did like desserts on buffet! Downside - you have to getup early to reserve beach chairs. We didnt mind as we are early risers. Just napped later in day. Do the activities - they are fun, enjoyed water exercise. Walked down to Eagle Beach several times - great walking area.
