So Close to being 5 Star
This is a beautifully maintained resort, a little older than most we’ve been to but nothing that’s particularly noticeable or that detracts from the property’s atheistic. Beautiful grounds and compact which provides easy access to restaurants, bars, pools etc which if you have any mobility issues will be a big bonus. Situated directly on the beach with a calm sea, when compared to Punta Cana. Not powdery white sands and clear seas but nothing to complain about from our perspective. Clean well maintained and with ample sun-beds, drink service and is own bar. We arrived Christmas Day and having already checked in via the App we received our room and towel keys and were in our room In record time. Room (52010) ground floor was spacious, clean and well appointed with a generous bathroom and wardrobe space. Mini-Bar was stocked with water, some soda and a few miniature spirits. As we don’t drink in our room not a problem for us but other properties we’ve been to are much more generous with their offerings. Coffee maker is on the small side but again not a real issue. Our balcony looked out onto gardens and had a table and 2 chairs. Overall I hope this review will come across as positive but there are some recurring themes that I’m going to mention now rather than keep repeating them for each section that just mark the hotel down a touch. Attention to detail from servers tends to be lacking In all restaurants. It’s very hit and miss how long you wait for drinks, refills, a missing piece of cutlery etc. The staff are friendly and obliging enough but it just seems as if they could do with a touch more training (For example I don’t expect to have to reuse my knife and fork if I’m having a starter then a main anywhere I eat never mind a 5 star resort. Drinks are pretty good, top shelf brands mostly but the strength varies greatly. In the evening drinks with ice produce a horrendous amount of condensation on tables. Whilst the waiting staff will occasionally wipe up beware of putting handbags or anything else on tables or they will be wet very quickly. Napkins would of been good. The pools need heating. Not sure if it’s a Bahia thing as both resorts we stayed at have been the same but its far to cold. Not just refreshing but stay in there for a while and your core starts to get cold. Also a strange ‘only change your towel one a day’ policy, which again you don’t expect at a 5 star resort. Please note the only ATM is in the sister hotel and only dispenses Dominican Pesos. Only minor stuff really and certainly not enough to spoil our holiday. Restaurants Brazilian Poor. Great concept badly executed. Meats are either tough or dry. Frequency of skewers being brought to your table was to slow. Salad bar was pretty average. Italian This is situated in the sister resort a short buggy ride away. Service…see above. Food was ok some of the dishes like the Calpraise salad were as far from Italian as you could imagine but overall we would of gone back again. Food Could of been a little warmer but nicely presented. Asian Ate here 3 times and by far our favourite. Sushi was good and presentation excellent. Obviously it’s a Dominican take on Asian food so please don’t expect the chicken satay to be the same quality as your favourite Thai restaurant at home. Overall service one of the best and a thoroughly pleasant experience and would recommend Dom Pedro Had high expectations but it just fell a little short Don’t get me wrong this is a nice restaurant, good ambience and well presented food but it just lacked that 5% extra flavour that would of elevated it another level. A tendency to slightly over cook meat is a theme across the resort (and I can understand why) but my personal preference is for beef, lamb and duck to be very pink Overall would recommend Buffets You will see many reviews saying the food could be warmer but that’s a problem with nearly all buffets tbh. Both lunch and dinner had a enormous choice (dinner more so off course) and if you can’t find something you like here you’re never going to be pleased. Huge range of salads, cold meats etc together with a grill station, roasts and a wide variety of other dishes. Deserts were plentiful but not really my thing. No complaints at all and in fact on two occasions possibly m favourite meals.. Breakfast Good selection of the usual fare. Egg station gets busy of course although the fried eggs they batch cook were very good. If your a tea drinker it’s the usual challenge to find the tea bag but as any Brit will tell you that’s the norm everywhere lol. Just the one location for breakfast unless you have room service. Room service Only used this once and had a disappointing club sandwich so I’m not really in a position to make a judgement. Other people we spoke had very good experiences. Cleaners. The resort work really hard to keep the property clean and do a fabulous job of doing so. Our room was kept meticulously clean, towels changed daily and additional ones provided on request. Summary Overall we had a great holiday and I wouldn’t want anything Ive said to put you off this hotel. We had a great time and the things I’ve highlighted really are either subjective or just minor niggles. If you do book you’ll love this place it’s just that for us not quite that 5 star level we’ve experienced at other resorts. If you accept this hotel is in reality probably a four maybe a four and a half you won’t be disappointed and it remains good value compared to others. If you go then I hope you enjoy and a very Happy New Year to you all.

Outstanding value and experience at Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville
Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville is an absolutely outstanding 5 star hotel in beautiful surroundings, a lovely well kept beach with beautiful sand and palm trees. The sea could be bluer for the Caribbean but it’s still beautiful. The staff are excellent and I need to call out a few who are outstanding. The bar staff at the quiet pool are simply outstanding especially Marien, she is a true star and a credit to Bahia Principe. Mariel Sanchez at reception also. I had to debate late checkout with him and he listened to my issue and explanation and he worked out a compromised solution for me, excellent customer service. We have been to the Bouganville 5 times and we will definitely be going again. If you are thinking of trying it out do so, you will not be disapointed.

Fantastic Couples Retreat
Fantastic resort, great staff, service, food and drink. Always very clean and abundance of food and alcohol. Rooms were tired but I didn't intend travelling to the sun to spend time in my room other than sleep. People to manage there expectations for the price paid it was fantastic

Relaxing weeks stay !
We spent a week here after a cruise with TUI from 31st December, on arrival was greeted with welcome drinks and check in process was easy and well organised. The hotel is lovely and the grounds are well kept and beautiful, our room was a bit tired but overall it was very clean only problem was the shower seemed to be lukewarm but due to being so hot it wasn’t much of a problem and seemed to get warmer as the week went on. Plenty of towels provided everyday and loved the all inclusive 24hr room service. The entertainment was good and the staff are brilliant, very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food overall was ok, always something to eat but i did find the meat was always on the rarer side and i did notice a few times chicken and pork seemed very pink so i would avoid meat mostly, the pools were fantastic and overall we had a great stay, i would definitely come back.
