Save your money
Rooms are horrible. Mold everywhere. Everything stinks of mold. Disgusting… Service: staff won’t move if you don’t give them a dollar. Can sit there the whole diner with just one drink unless you tip. Beach: careful, don’t injure your feet trying to sweep around the corals that are everywhere and that are impossible to see when even a little wave is present. Food: ok selection but all three of us had upset stomachs multiple times. Does not worth the money - would never ever come back.

Beach with many palms. Sea with reefs, rocks and fishes.
We spent 9 days on this resort in the end of October. Resort has good beach with possibility to walk longtime in both sides outside of secure territory. There are many reefs in the water. You need to be careful during swimming, it's not possible to swim along the beach even for hundred meters due of rocks, but many fishes are always close to reefs. Needs to take snorkeling gear and maybe water shoes to protect your feet. The sun was not such strong as in Punta Cana in the same season; we didn't even burn. But 30 and 31 October were too rainy and we spent our time in the bar and in the lobby. We visited two restaurants: Fish Market and Brazilian Meat resto, they were fine. Meal in the buffet was fine, but after 4-5 days I already didn't know what to eat, every day was same meal, but fruit were fresh and testily. The alcohol drinks were simple, if you want something good need to go in the sport bar. The resort has good entertainment team. They are always have something for you. I did aqua fitness in the sea and in the pool. My son plaid in the volleyball. We took snorkeling excursion from the resort diving center to one island with visiting two beaches. Fishes on the resort's beach were better than in the wild water. First beach was amazing, but later rain was starting and we skipped second beach. I enjoyed of the motor boat trip, but some people had seasick. Our room was in block #9 and everything was working, except safe for money and documents didn't work. Our friends had smaller (and cheaper) room in the block #6 with some broken electrical outlets. In last rainy days humidity was too strong and all our clothes were wet. On the beach close to 4 - 5 p m some beach sand fleas are starting to bite. More rain more sand fleas. I was bitten by them to much, but not my friends. They are leaved sea beach lit bit early; we were often on the beach to six. The beach towels exchange point close close at six. Needs to take anti mosquitos spray OFF. We were 5 times on Cuba, 3 in Mexico and it was our 4th trip to Dominican Republic, but first in Samana region. By my opinion this resort Is more for the seniors and for the people with kids. As for me it was overcrowded, specially in Thursday, Friday, Saturday, when Dominicans come for the weekend. Rooms need to be renovated.

Bahia in April
Spent a beautiful week on a girls trip in April. It is a smaller resort, everything within a quick walk. Overall, we had a great time, service overall was great, food was very tasty! Beach was beautiful- a bit of seaweed but very swimmable. The pool was quite chilly, had to have a few wobbly pops to actually get in. The room was at the very back of the resort. There was a fence, then the road. There was a security guard stationed there all night which was comforting but on the flip side why would one be needed? The bed was hard and uncomfortable. It was always cleaned, and restocked thru the week. I had requested (3 times) for birthday decor, unfortunately every time was yes, yes, yes, but I gave up as nothing ever appeared. Would have been happy with a banner. We did have a great time, it was a smaller resort than we were used to but I liked that nothing was ever far…

From arrival to departure, fantastic service
From arrival to departure everyone was friendly and helpful. Our questions or requests never seemed to disturb or bother the staff. My little one spent some time at the mini-club, “Beba” & “Tito” where able to make it so comfortable for my child and so reassuring to us that our little one was in good hands. My 6 year old loved it so much that we had a hard time spending time together without being asked to he brought back to the mini-club. The choice in food was really good and no matter your preference, always able to find something to our taste. Even though everyone was really friendly, there are 2 people at the restaurants and buffet that distinguished themselves, “Moises” and “Elwyn”. They made us feel like friends or family, such a smile and hospitality, specifically with our little one. The grounds are impeccable, the only criticism would be that around the pool it can get slippery, but not sure there is much to do about it. The beach is beautiful, no seaweed and for the most part very calm which is ideal for young families. For those who want to stay connected, wifi signal is good throughout the resort, but disconnecting is always a good idea 😉. My family is already talking about coming back again on a future vacation. A big thank you to the whole staff.

Paradise on Earth
We had an amazing trip to Samana 10 years ago as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). 10 years ago it was the best ever trip. After 10 years we decided to go again. This time we went just me and my son. And what we saw - now it's even better than before. They made a lot of changes and they renovated many buildings. We enjoyed our trip a lot. They added few new restaurants and totally reconstructed the buffet. It is very spacious now. The food in the buffet very delicious and they have a lot of variety. They change the variety every day. Also we had our reservations for the restaurants. And we really enjoyed all of our suppers at the restaurants( Brazilian, French, Italian). Food was incredibly delicious and service provided was the best. The atmosphere in the hotel is very inviting and warm. Special thanks to Karine Martinez, Lidia Maria B., Marcos, Antonio and others in the reception team for their professional service. Everywhere in the hotel, at the buffet, at the restaurants, in the bar we were very welcomed and provided excellent service. We are grateful for that. The beach in Samana is marvelous. The color of the water is turquoise. The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed our beach everyday. At the beach you can meet with locals. They are very kind and beautiful people. They love tourists. You can buy from them a lot of souvenirs, jewelry, paintings. So we did. Shows at night time are incredibly fun. We danced a lot and enjoyed evening concerts. We stayed at the first floor and it was super comfortable for us to go to the beach and everywhere. The flora in Samana is gorgeous. We had our trip to El-Limon. You go to the mountains by horse and there you swim in natural pool. We love you Samana. For sure will be returning soon. Thanks a lot to everyone at Bahia Principe Grand El-Portillo, who made our second trip to Samana unforgetable. See you guys soon. We are grateful to have you and your professional service.
