A decent property. Minor issues, but no deal killers!
This review is of a one-bedroom with sleeper couch in the living room, top floor unit with a large deck/lanai and a small lanai off the bedroom or kitchen. The property is well situated South of Kihei, has friendly staff, clean rooms and is spacious to the point of wasted space. There could have been a second bedroom, with room left over for a pool table in the living room-who's vaulted ceilings could easily accommodate a 16' Christmas tree. Also, there was ample room for shuffleboard or Bocce on the lanai/deck! The unit I'm reviewing (I can't remember the unit number) has a strange little lanai accessed from the bedroom or kitchen with a view of the maintenance/laundry facility-mostly obscured by neato foliage. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas (thank god, for us non-smokers)! It's an older but perfectly serviceable property with a few minor issues. There is/was a construction tent/shelter that's been there awhile taking up parking spaces in front of my unit, some rotted wood on the stairs/decks and peeled paint on the exterior woodwork, none of which detracted from my stay. Nonetheless, it was a relatively well maintained and nicely located property on Maui. I would stay there again-any day! Ps. Did I say the employees were friendly and nice? I did, and I say it again!

Not as expected
I’ll start with the good of then go to the bad. The good - unit had a view of the ocean and the beds were comfortable. Bad it’s the first timeshare I’ve stayed in that didn’t provide toiletries beyond a small bar of hand soap. Would it kill them to put a couple of tide pods in the unit to allow for one load of laundry. $3. Per day to use the in room safe. Issued a beach towel and told I didn’t have to return it clean - seriously. And the pool was closed …. The renovation was behind. FYI the pool looks a lot bigger in the pictures than it is in reality. Someone else mentioned this in a prior review the AC units were at a set temperature you couldn’t adjust them up or down and they were on timers - you turned the dial for how much time. They worked well but you’d freeze turn it off get hot turn it back on.

Don't Recommend....
Oh, boy... I'm going to start this review off with a disclaimer: in no way are my complaints & frustrations directed at the Aston Maui Hill staff. Everyone--front desk folks, groundskeepers, & housekeeping--was wonderful. Trip details: my partner and I stayed here October 2024. Total trip time: 3 days, 2 nights, and we stayed in unit #6. Initially, we were excited. I'd booked a 1 bedroom unit, but we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom at check-in. That's always a nice surprise! Then, we got to the condo. It was nice, enough. Some of the furnishings (beds, living room couch, etc.) and appliances (stove, fridge, etc.) were dated, but everything was in good working condition and the cabinets were fully stocked. Our unit also had in-wall AC units & ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom, plus a partial, yet pretty distant, view of the ocean. Then, all hell broke loose. About 30 minutes in, we started noticing teeny, tiny ants roaming the house (just a couple). I'm telling you: these were much smaller than typical ants, but FAST as HELL. Initially, we didn't sweat it. There were only a few; no big deal. Later, we fixed a small dinner (scrambled eggs and some fruit); we put the egg shells and fruit pits into the kitchen trashcan, which sat near a slatted glass window. Within TWO HOURS, the condo was overrun with ants. I'm talking a huge, swarming swell of tiny ants going for the TWO THINGS we'd thrown into the trashcan (nothing else was in there). By the time we saw them swarming, they'd breeched the living room & had gone into our luggage hunting for more food. I don't know a worse feeling than ants (or any critters) in your luggage. Incidentally, it was also impossible to tell whether we'd gotten them all because our luggage (and their tiny bodies) were both black. Cue paranoia that we'd accidentally bring them home, and even worse paranoia that they were a Special Kind of Ant that bites or who knows what else. We promptly took out the trash and sprayed the gathered throng with cleaning solution. (Couldn't find any bug spray in the condo & it was midnight, so no stores open.) But by then, it was too late. Over our 3 day stay, more ants came from all over (window by the kitchen; the patio doors; etc.), following the pheromones of their fallen brethren, seeking (presumably) food. We couldn't even sit on the couch, as they'd taken that over, too--and seemed to be going after something *behind* the couch. Which tells me that other food residue (NOT ours, we never ate on or near that couch) for the next couple of days. No matter how many we killed, we couldn't get rid of them completely. Obviously, Maui is a tropical island. Bugs and critters are to be expected, especially when staying at small(er) condo properties instead of large hotel-style resorts. But this was my 4th time visiting Maui; all previous trips, I stayed in small condos and NEVER ONCE experienced a pest outbreak like this. I might not have minded if it'd taken a few days for the ants to come around, but their immediate presence makes me think this is a known problem that hasn't been fixed or sprayed for. This nearly ruined the trip. We'd come from a different (wonderful) property earlier in the week, but ending the trip here made us want to come home early. This may not be a problem in every unit, but I can't suggest this property given the issues, nor would I stay here again in the future. I already filled out their hotel survey with this information, but figured other travelers should know about this, too.

Very nice
The staff members were friendly. The apartment was way too big for two persons. ItThere was a full equipped kitchen and a fridge. The apartment also had two balconys. Unfortunately the pool was closed but we had known that before we booked. Its also a bit too pricey if you only use the apartment for sleeping.
