Can’t beat the location
As for the location, oceanfront in paradise is hard to beat. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. No issues getting extra towels. Biggest complaint was lack of outlets. Not one accessible outlet except the bathroom and one we finally located behind the microwave. We had to pull the bed out so my husband could plug in his cpap. Not a huge deal, but annoying. Both the sliding and screen doors were extremely difficult to open and close. While I understand being by the ocean causes these issues, I’ve stayed in other places on the ocean and they were no where near as difficult to use. Our bathroom sink faucet didn’t work quite right, the table a little wonky, but being a little older, nothing complaint worthy. All of it could use updating. Overall, it was a nice place for our week long 20th wedding anniversary vacation.

Outstanding Hotel and the best Location.
The location is wonderful, right on the beach. We watched the sunrise each morning from our ocean view room. A very short walk to the Market, the awesome IMUA coffee shop, and our all time favorite restaurant, Lava Lava Beach Club. Get an ocean view room, it's worth it!

Bad experience
The most unfriendly hotel ever.. The sofa and the carpet was so dirty and smelly. I asked from the guy at the reception told call someone to collect the garbage and he gave a speech about how dare do I ask such a thing… FOUR days garbage !! After three days I still have have no information about the return of the double 250$ deposit of the hotel …

First and last time!
First and last time. Paid for an upgrade to oceanfront and was expecting an updated room (per their website). The room was old with an air conditioning unit that was plugged into the slider. Upon arrival the room was dirty, and very outdated. Refrigerator was rusty and dirty. I did complain but was told by hotel staff that there was nothing they could do. Hotel manager texted and said she would look at my room but never got back to me. While I was there, several rooms including the one underneath me were broken into while people were sleeping in the middle of the night. Police came and took reports. If it wasn’t for the guest staying in the room under me, we wouldn’t have known, the staff didn’t let anyone know this happened. just so everyone was aware. Didn’t feel safe after that. We had no power from 3:30 am to 11am and there was no communication from the staff at all. Hotel staff were not helpful at all and often times avoided eye contact/talking to guest passing through lobby. I initially booked this hotel for the reviews and was looking forward to my first solo trip and was met with a dirty room, poor communication, rooms getting broken into, and no power. If it wasn’t for the great connections I made with other guest and the great view I would’ve left sooner.

So so at best
In spite of reserving a room with 2 queen beds, we got stuck in an unclean, outdated room with one queen and an old sofa bed. Everytime my son moved, the bed springs creaked. There were no sheets for it when we arrived and nobody available to assist. We tried calling security but no luck. The drain in the tub didn't work, nor did the air conditioner (see photo and you'll understand). So we got a fan. Over the 9 days we stayed there, the staff was unfriendly (except for housekkeeping but they only cleaned our room once) . The front desk made zero effort to find us a better room. Our entrance was off the parking lot where our rental car was crashed into one night - no note. On the positive side, the Coconut Marketplace nearby has good coffee and breakfast bowls (pretty $$$ though). The weekly Farmers Market is great and Kapaa is the perfect location from which to explore Kauai - north to south. But we'd choose an Airbnb or Kauai Shores resort next time. For sure.
