Solid location and reasonable price for a family trip, but probably wouldn’t stay again.
We chose Pacific Monarch for a multigenerational family trip—my mom’s first time in Hawaii, and my teenagers came along too. The location in Waikiki is great: just a few minutes’ walk to the beach, with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and public transit. For the price, especially needing two rooms, the value was hard to beat. Staff were polite and check-in was easy. Each room had a full kitchenette with a standard fridge, range, microwave, and sink—really useful for anyone looking to save money by cooking meals. The balcony was a nice bonus, and we had a decent partial ocean view from a higher floor. That said, there were some frustrating downsides. The rooms and furnishings are clearly dated. The AC is a noisy window unit that barely kept the room cool, and the sound made the balcony unpleasant to sit on. The bathroom was cramped, and the sofa bed was uncomfortable. The hotel provides only a tiny amount of soap—barely enough for one person, let alone multiple guests. Another unexpected hassle was the key card system. It uses magnetic stripes, which constantly got demagnetized in our pockets thanks to phones, earbuds, or anything else with magnets. We ended up having to get replacement cards multiple times. Overall, this wasn’t a bad stay, but it also wasn’t one I’d choose again. The location and price were solid, and the kitchenette setup is great in theory. But the outdated rooms, loud AC, weak amenities, and annoying key card issues made it hard to fully relax.

Lovely location - Awesome 😎
Christieann is an absolute gem at the front desk—warm, welcoming, and incredibly efficient. She goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued and taken care of. Her professionalism and bright personality make check-ins a breeze. Simply put, Christieann is the kind of first impression every business needs!

Hidden Gem
Nestled in the midst of Waikiki you will find a modest gem of a hotel with an unassuming staff and unpretentious, clean rooms. An absolutely killer view from the rooftop takes in every sight in view and puts it in the palm of your hand. If you're vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free you can cook in your stocked kitchen or kitchenette here instead of dining out, and make this home, with a Whole Foods and a Down To Earth both nearby on convenient bus lines. I appreciate what they are doing to renovate and restore this landmark!

Great Place to go, if you are going.
If you are going this is a really great place, location, clean, the staff are the best. But we are not going to the US, wherever for the time being. I don't like being disrepected, so we are off to Mexico in two weeks for a month and then to Tokyo this fall. Done.

Pacific Monarch Hotel Stay
We had 3 nights booked for a one bedroom corner suite. Due to an error we had to stay in a much inferior unit for the first night. We did get into our assigned room shortly before noon the next day. The one bedroom corner unit on the 30th floor was good. Disappointed that the roof top pool was out of service.
