    Awful stay

Absolutely dreadful place. This was our third stay here and the decline in the rooms, facilities, customer service and attitudes of staff is sad to see. The room we had had no working air con, the shower would not drain so overflowed onto the bathroom floor, TV not working, fan over bed squeaked so loud it could not be used. The room was unbearably hot on a night we simply could not sleep. We had the same set of towels for our whole 5 day stay and despite asking each day for them to be replaced as they were wet and dirty they were not. Housekeeping simply slung them over the top of the shower. Room was not cleaned properly and the previous occupant had obviously drawn on mirror which we could see when it steamed up as well as a sticky drink that had been spilled on the floor. These were there the whole stay so housekeeping clearly not doing their job properly. The shower base had clearly been painted over at some point at it was peeling and flaking and ingrained with dirt, it was disgusting. Reception did not want to know about the issues and kept promising to fix but never did. I spent more time in trying to get someone to help than I did enjoying my holiday. You can only get drinks in plastic cups in exchange for a token from reception and then have to either keep hold of the cups or exchange back again for another token. It was like a bad 2 star all inclusive. Very little variety in food at the MFC lounge for breakfast and lunch. The only good point of the stay was the excellent food and wonderful, friendly staff in the MFC restaurant on an evening. Maybe Reception could take some tips from them and their eagerness to help! Hell would freeze over before we would visit again.

Upgrade to My Favourite Club; you won't be disappointed!

This review is based on a stay utilising My Favourute Club, which is at a slightly increased price, but well worth the upgrade. This is an adult only area of the hotel, whereby you have a seperate pool, pool bar, pool side restaurant for buffet breakfast and lunch, a seperate resaurant and bar in the main area for dinner, the most comfortable sunbeds and also gives access to all the other hotel bars and facilities. I have read some truly baffling reviews but in our experience, it really was a fantastic holiday, where we could not fault anything. Having said that, my only whinge was the lady that checked us in, didn't seem to care less. She explained where our room was and that was about it! Other than that though, the room was very spacious, with a large living area, a well equiped bathroom, loads of storage space and the bedroom had the biggest bed I have ever slept in, which was also very comfortable. It was also very clean, with the cleaner coming in everyday. The food was buffet style for breakfast, with plenty of choice in lovely surroundings. Lunch again was buffet with plenty of hot food, salad, fruit, fresh bread and pastries. There was always plenty of snacks throughout the day. I suppose the adults only pool was quiet, if you want more "family" atmosphere, the other pools may suit. The drinks were more then adequate, with San Miguel on draught, and named spirits, if you asked for them, as well as decent wine / cava and soft drinks. The eveing meal was a combination of buffet for starters and deserts, with the main course a choice of 3 meals prepared for you and served to you. This menu changed every day. There was some entertainment in the large area, which was ok and passed the evenings. There was also a guitarist in the reception bar, who was very good. The hotel grounds are imaculate and very well maintained, with a superb aray of different plants, cacti and even banana plants! The location of the hotel is fantastic. It's a good 20 minute walk to Corralejo centre, full of bars, shops and eateries. There is a walk along the coast as well, but there is no "promanade" as such, so not much good if you require wheelchair etc access. There is alo a lovely walk to the sand dune area, again 20 minutes by the roads, or by the coastal walk. Beautiful scenery. All in all, a great holiday for us and we will certianly book again in the My Favourite Club area.

It’s ok but we won’t be back

We came here for a week with my family. Looking at the resort via easyJet we were sold what you could have if you upgraded to the my favourite club, which we weren’t given the option of when we booked. So be careful you could be buying into something you would be getting. If you don’t buy into the my favourite club you’ll be eating in the same buffet every night apart from one evening which was just awful. The buffet was the same boring food and wine on a tap. The water was provided in a water bottle/fountain and you were given a plastic becker for your drinks in the day and around the pool. There was nothing provided in the all inclusive fridge apart from the odd water bottle. The evening entertainment drove us to grab an early night. On the plus side it was a lovely walk to the dunes or into the centre, there was a lovely beach bar for sundowners. The staff were amazing. But unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Disappointing - not 4 star experience

Very disappointed- this is not a four star all inclusive standard! Reception staff very unwelcoming, need to take tips from catering and housekeeping teams. Reception area spacious but lacking comfortable seating areas. Booked a Junior Suite with Pool View - very disappointing, did not live up to the promotional photos. Our room was very different to the room next door. It was dark and tired looking. Spoke with reception, showed her photos- her comment was “ but you have a nice view”. Explained that it was the not standard advertised and paid for, not what we are used to; she told us to go back at 5pm to look at another room. Surprisingly enough there was nothing available. The bedroom and seating area were very dark, walls badly marked and in need of a coat of paint; there was a hole in the bedroom skirting board, the fridge was crammed into a corner we could just about open the door; towels and bed linen were worn (had a hole in bed sheet) Bathroom shower floor was marked, the door needed the plastic sealant fixing; toilet seat and lid were both stained; wall mirror was rusty; window - frame broken in two places and almost came off in our hands; maintenance managed to put it back in place and then bashed the frame together in an attempt to fix the frame ( it needs replacing ) Thankfully the housekeeping team maintained a high standard of cleanliness- thank you Loli for working hard to provide this. All inclusive: hotel states four restaurants and bars; unfortunately one restaurant is allocated to the My Favourite Club ( this option was unavailable to us at time of booking ), one A La Carte which opened on three nights only and two general which opened in rotation, as did the bars. No mini bar in room (hence why they call it a refrigerator) ; there was a bottle of water in room on arrival, not replaced, therefore had to refill from water machines in bar / restaurant areas; some lucky guests received a bottle of wine in room on arrival ( not sure what happened to ours ). A La Carte restaurant - this was booked on morning of opening (choice of 3 evenings), you had to choose main course on booking; on evening you were escorted to your table, once everyone seated you were all served a selection of appetisers, then all served soup, then all served main course, then all served dessert; does this sound like A La Carte or a wedding / event reception? Food was okay, bit repetitive and not great for vegetarians. Children running around, some playing ‘hide n seek’, definitely not under parental control !! Grounds were well maintained - shame the rooms didn’t get the same level of attention and TLC . Found a quiet pool area, but even there people thought it ok to allow children to shout and run around until the Lifeguard had words with then. Evening entertainment- this was ok. Had couple of good double acts (singing). Overall - definitely not a four star experience. Don’t believe everything you see in the promotional photos. Believe the resort was revamped 6/7 years ago; it is in desperate need of redecorating- clean, bright walls would make a huge difference, as would a decent bathroom area. Management need to place same emphasis on rooms as they do the grounds!!!

Nice hotel with “just okay” food

If this had been our first all inclusive holiday as a family, we probably would have found it all amazing. However, as we had experienced a few four star all inclusive previously we felt this hotel didn’t quite hit the mark in comparison. Mostly the food is below standard comparing to other AI hotels. Opening hours of mealtimes aren’t great for families with young hungry kids, they need to open at least 30 mins earlier. Food choice is Limited options, a bit samey and average tasting. Every now and then I would find a food item that was delicious but mostly it was just “ok”. It was all edible and you won’t go hungry , just it was “average” on taste. The main dining hall feels and looks like a canteen- a bit crammed. After a few days, we accepted it and got used to it and just got on with making the best of our holiday. We did enjoy the pool restaurant which has a much nicer atmosphere & ambience. Even though it was limited food options we enjoyed the vibe / decor and the setting there seemed a nicer standard on par with other AI hotels we have visited. The drinks token system is an annoyance. Never have I had to do this at any other hotel where I go to the bar and I am refused service( with a grumpy attitude by many of the staff) I have to walk across the grounds to reception stand in line because they are busy serving or checking in a guest to then get a token, walk back to a bar before they will serve me. Most of the bar staff had a grumpy attitude ( with the exception of Raymond, who had a great positive energy ). Surely there must be a better way around this token drinks system? The hotel is putting the onus on the paying guests to deal with the issue of glass collections when every other hotel manages to handle it accordingly, .Paying guests who just want to relax and have a smooth service when they go to the bar to ask for a drink. We still had a relaxing holiday at this hotel as there are some great positives. The rooms are lovely and spacious, big walk in wardrobe and very comfortable bed. Nice grounds in a village style complex. Huge balcony ( request an upper floor to get any sun as the ground floor rooms are limited on sunshine), kids club was good although the hours are later than other hotels/ 10-12 and 2-4 would suit families better I think. WiFi was fine for us- no issues. The gym and spa was very dated, some of the cardio machines didn’t work and the whole area was very tired and could do with a refurb. We loved Corralejo and will probably be back to the town but this hotel we have done now and weren’t wowed enough to return. However I feel if other families are going here as a first time experience for AI holiday they may have no complaints so it’s worth a shot to give it a try and use your own judgement.
