Returned from a two week stay at theAllegro Playacar in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. This is a four star resort with something less than 300 rooms, 4 restaurants, 3 bars, 2 pools plus a kids club, and a reasonably equipped fitness facility. This was our second visit to this resort, first being over 10 yrs ago. Our room was by the pool in one of the rear buildings which I would not recommend as it was next to another resort that was quite noisy. Buffet restaurants were very good although they open alternatively, the main restaurant open for breakfast and dinner and the poolside buffet open for lunch. Would have been nice to have more of a choice. Rooms were very good although showing little signs of age, we had a drain line for the air conditioner plug and cause a small flood and had a door lock stop working so we couldn’t get into our room until it was replaced. Both times staff responded fairly quickly and the problems were solved. Staff were exceptionally good both in the restaurants and the bars. Pools weren’t crowded, there was no scrambling for pool loungers, a lot remained empty until well after 10:00. Pool activities were ok with 2 or 3 per day with a couple on the beach. The beach was very nice, a contrast to when we had been here before. At that time most of the beach had been washed away. This was a very enjoyable stay although they open alternatively weather was not cooperative for the second week. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants the convenience of the closeness of a lot of attractions along with fairly quiet and comfortable resort.

All the staff was so friendly, especially Alejandro in the lunch restaurant and Ricardo at the breakfast buffet. The First Club pool was delightful and heated. The resort itself is beautiful and feels intimate, but it didn't feel crowded. I would love to come here again.

Fantastic vacation
This was our first time at Allegro Playacar . We vacationed with our friends that were there last year . Service was excellent and food was top notch ! Beaches are beautiful and location is great !! We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much !!

Wonderful service
Wonderful family/couples hotel right on the beautiful beach. Good food, great service, large and clean rooms. If you are an early sleeper as for a room away from the show. Gluten free folk will need to ask lots of questions, although there are plenty of options, Only 20 minute walk to town which I found very safe, and taxis are on a fixed fair system if you get an official taxi, which is very easy.
