Are taxes and fees included in my vacation price?
Yes, taxes and fees are included in the price of your Apple Vacation, which include airport facility charges, September 11 security fees, state and federal taxes and fees and hotel taxes. In a few cases, some departure taxes may be payable in resort, though they are generally included in the price of the airline ticket. See below for ancillary items that may not be included in the price of your vacation.
Are airport/hotel transfers included in the price of my Apple Vacation?
Apple Vacations includes the cost of your round-trip transfers in your vacation package if you are traveling to Mexico (except Loreto), our most popular Caribbean destinations and Central/South America. If you booked land-only/hotel-only, transfers are also included, but you must provide your travel agent or Apple Vacations with your flight information so that the transfer company knows when to pick you up. Transfers are NOT included for "Air-Only" passengers, or for any passengers traveling within the continental U.S., or to the South Pacific, European beaches, or to Loreto (Mexico); Belize (Central America); Anguilla, Abaco Islands, Bimini, Dominica, Eleuthera & Harbour Island, Exuma-Georgetown Bahamas, Martinique, St. Barth’s, St. Croix, St. John, and Virgin Gorda (Caribbean). Transfers are NOT included but are available for purchase in Bonaire and Grenada. In the Hawaiian Islands, transfers on Oahu or rental cars throughout the islands are available but not included.
Roundtrip airport/hotel transfers are only included when arriving at the international airport nearest to your resort area (optional transfers may be available for purchase), however transfers ARE included for passengers flying into Punta Cana and staying in La Romana on our Excusive Nonstop Vacation Flights. Roundtrip transportation from the Cancun airport to the Puerto Juarez ferry terminal is included when traveling to Isla Mujeres; you must purchase your own ferry tickets (approx. $17 r/t per person) and taxi to/from hotel (approx. $12 r/t per vehicle). There is an additional cost for ferry services when flying into Cancun and staying in Cozumel- please refer to your travel documentation. Prices are subject to change.
If you need a car seat for your child's transfer in resort, please advise us at the time of booking so we can arrange/confirm with the destination management company. An additional fee will be added to your booking (varies by destination).
What is the difference between nonstop and private transfers?
Nonstop means you're traveling with people going to the same resort, but not stopping at other resorts except for those in the same hotel complex. Private transfers include your party only, and are nonstop. When booking online, optional private and nonstop transfers, when available, will be offered near the end of the booking process.
What ancillary items are not included in my vacation package?
The following items are NOT included in the cost of your vacation (fees subject to change):
- Passport and visa fees, port/embarkation fees, laundry, telephone calls, other items and services of a personal nature.
- Tips to airport baggage handlers.
- Airline baggage fees, seat assignments and food/beverages.
- Unless specified otherwise, alcohol, meals, and excursions are not included.
- Resort fees and parking fees at Hawaii hotels may apply are payable directly to the hotel.
- $29 departure tax may be payable upon departure from Costa Rica in U.S. dollars, Columbian Colones, Visa or MasterCard. However in most cases this fee is included in the cost of your ticket (including on our Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights).
- $41 Cartagena de Indias departure tax payable at resort airport upon departure and may be included in the cost of your ticket.
- Barbados government levy of $5.50- $10 per room per night, based on the rating/ranking attributed to the hotel by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, collected at hotel check-out- major credit cards or cash are accepted.
- Environmental levy is payable upon hotel check-in or check-out in the following Mexico municipalities: Municipality of Benito Juarez and Municipality of Puerto Morelos (Cancun/Riviera Cancun) – hotels will collect 25 Mexican pesos per room per night. Municipality of Solidaridad, Riviera Maya - hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day.
- Roundtrip airport/hotel transfers are not included in all destinations.
- If you purchased a rental car as part of your vacation package, additional charges will apply which are payable directly to the rental car company. These include state/local taxes, gasoline, optional insurance, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), and airport charges. Extra day charges may apply if your return flight is one hour (or more) later then the scheduled drop-off time for your rental car. Minimum age requirements may apply. A valid driver's license and major credit card in driver's name are required.

Can you accommodate special requests such as adjoining rooms and more?
If you require special arrangements such as adjoining rooms/room locations, bedding requests, specific assistance or special meals, we will pass on your request to the vendor on your behalf. However, since these requests lie outside our contracts with our suppliers, we cannot guarantee special requests unless otherwise stated and they may be subject to additional fees. Please advise us or your travel advisor of your special request at the time of booking. If you are booking online and have a special request, contact us at 1-800-517-2000.

How does Apple Vacations rate their hotels?
Apple Vacations uses a rating system based on amenities and customer feedback, ranging from 2 Apple (Budget) to 6+ Apple (Exceptional Luxury). The Golden Apple rating is awarded based on customer feedback from our Vacation Satisfaction Surveys. Some Golden Apple hotels may be moderate and other deluxe, but all offer an exceptional standard of quality, service and value. Apple Vacations is the only vacation company to base our ratings solely on customer feedback. Be sure to complete our Vacation Satisfaction Survey that will be emailed to you upon your return. Your opinions are extremely important to us and help us to improve your future vacations.
Is tipping required at All-Inclusive resorts?
Gratuities are generally included, but tipping for exceptional service is at your discretion and much appreciated.
What is the difference between All-Inclusive, Inclusive and European (EP) plans?
While hotel meal and activity plans vary, all-inclusive resorts include all meals and beverages (soft and alcoholic), daily activities, nightly entertainment, gratuities and in most instances, non-motorized watersports. At select resorts, all-inclusive plans are referred to as “Unlimited-Luxury®”, “Unlimited-Fun®”, “Endless Privileges®” and more. Resorts labeled "Inclusive" include all meals and beverages (soft and alcoholic). European Plans do not include meals or beverages. Breakfast plans are also available at many resorts.
