The Newest Trends in Destination Weddings
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to talk about destination weddings, just in time for Valentine’s Day! The act of seeking out a romantic, faraway spot to get hitched dates back as long as we can remember; however, now in the age of millennials, we are seeing a rise in popularity. Destination Weddings are a great fit for those couples who like to let the venue speak for itself, but they also allow for ultimate customization. Check out our Apple Vaacations’ biggest trends for 2020 destination weddings.
Nontraditional Flowers. This is one trend we absolutely love! Incorporating nontraditional flowers is a unique way to decorate a venue. Everything from Pampas grass, dried flowers, and palm leaves are trending right now. This can take a regular venue and turn it rustic in seconds!
Neighboring Resorts: This is the perfect idea for those who have a lot of adults coming, but are also inviting families. There are many adults-only properties that have a family-friendly sister property next door. This allows for those who want a kid-free vacation to have that experiences, and still allows the wedding couple to invite all their young nieces, nephews, cousins, siblings, etc. This trend is the best of both worlds.
Unique Back Drops. Letting a venue speak for itself is a timeless wedding trend. Although, if you want take it the extra mile and compliment the venue, play with your backdrop! A floral moon gate, a geometric shape, drapery, and more – there are no limits on your wedding day.
Rounded Ceremonies. 360-degree views are becoming more and more popular, as they allow for a unique, photogenic set up. Cookie-cutter ceremonies are no longer a requirement! Maximize the space and sit your guests around the venue for the ultimate view. This trend truly allows the wedding couple to be the center of attention.
Morning-After Brunch. Or as some call it, “the Hangover Brunch”! Why let the celebrations end on your wedding day? Speak with your Wedding Coordinator about planning a breakfast the morning after to gather your group. This is also a great opportunity to thank everyone one more time for traveling a long ways for your special day.
Wedding Hashtags. Creating a hashtag for your wedding day is something that is very popular right now. The best thing about this, is it gives you access to all the photos from your wedding guests in one easy-to-search location. Unplugged. Have your guests drop their phones in the bin as you enter the venue! Cellphone-less weddings have arrived. We are seeing more and more wedding couples incorporating a basket or sign at the entrance of their venue, so everyone can fully soak in the moment and appreciate such a special day. After all, you invited them to see you tie the knot, not their phones.
Green with Envy. Let’s be honest, greenery can be a decoration in itself. We are seeing many wedding couples wish to keep the décor minimal, while playing with different green foliage. This keeps the planning simple, while still keeping the venue rich to the eye.
DIY. Millennials love to stretch their money the extra mile, and it has led to some beautiful and cost effective décor. From wedding signs to centerpieces and more, get crafty while staying in budget.
Weddings that Give Back. If it’s to the environment or to people in need, use your wedding for a good cause! We have seen everything from donations in lieu of favor bags, supporting local farmers for catering, and digital invitations. The options are endless, but if it helps the environment or those in need, we love it!
Blended Families. No need to pick your side – you are one family now! This one speaks for itself, but there is something so special about two families coming together as one. Why separate that love by sitting everyone across the room from each other? You are now loved by all parties involved.
