Hey there, Apple Vacationers! As we celebrate 55 years of travel excellence, join us as we head down memory lane and reminisce about how Apple Vacations became one of America’s favorite vacation companies.
It all began back in 1969. Before Apple Vacations was Apple Vacations, it was operated under the name Atkinson & Mullen Travel out of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. In the 1970s, the company switched gears, and Apple Tours emerged as a one-stop shop for vacation packages, including everything you needed in one convenient bundle.
Once Cancun introduced its first resort hotels in 1974, we couldn't resist diving headfirst into those crystal-clear waters. In 1977, we became the first U.S. travel company to whisk vacationers off to this tropical paradise!
As the 1980s rolled around, we were ready to take things up a notch. We packed our bags and headed to Media, Pennsylvania, where we became one of the first to introduce the concept of an all-inclusive vacation package, which included everything from flights and hotel stay to transportation and activities. We acquired Thomson Vacations in 1988 and opened Amstar DMC in 1990, which ended up becoming pivotal steps toward our growth, expansion, and dominance in the travel industry.
But you know what continues to set us apart? Our people. Whether it’s a warm hello from an Amstar rep at the airport or a knowledgeable voice over the phone, we always strive to put our travelers first. Our accolades are a testament to our hard work and dedication, as well as our own initiative, the Golden Apple Awards, which is our way of giving a high-five to the resorts that truly go the extra mile.
