Relaxation but Desperately needs a Refurbishment.

Returned to this hotel after twice visited in the past several years Check was smooth and requested block 26 was honoured. Our top floor standard room was very dated but everything worked apart from problem with the safe which was quickly fixed. The staircase leading upwards was generally filthy though and definitely needs a proper handrail fitted in the future. The food here generally was good with the best being the lunch selection and some of the Al La Cartes where tasty and some not so with the Steak house on the infinity pool coming out best for us. The Entertainment was decent with a good mixture of music and acts to suite all tastes. The drinks in Mexico are generally weak but we did have a few problems finding a good Rum in some locations but here at the Sian Kaan we did get what we wanted via our favourite barman Randi and genuinely speaking we were happy with the overall selection. This hotel is great for relaxation but has in our opinion now reached the end of the line and desperately need a refurbishment. Once this is done we would return.

Thank goodness for the other resorts

If this resort was by itself, I would probably give it 3 stars. 4 stars because of the other 3 resorts you get to use. Pros: Quiet area to sleep at night Buffet isn't noisy Breakfast buffet was great if you like eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toas which I do Hot water for showers Sian Ka'an dedicated beach area Drink service at the beach You get to use the 3 other resorts on the property Bike tour Cleaning service Towel service at the lobby at any time Cons: Small buffet/lack of variety especially lunch and dinner Noisy lobby area in the evening because of the entertainment right beside the lobby Ocean at the beach too shallow and rocky Small pools Can be difficult to get a shuttle during the evening a la carte rush No screens on your doors if you want fresh air I only used the Sian Ka'an to sleep and get breakfast in the morning. Definitely an older crowd and if you like the quiet and hanging out at the pools to read and taking a dip a few times, this is the place for you. The Sian Ka'an beach area to relax was also great with a bar, washroom and drink service available. If you go into the ocean, it only goes up to just below your waist and rocky. Bring water shoes. Most of the time I would be at the other resorts and I enjoyed Tulum because the ocean at the beach was a bit deeper, more food options (buffet, a bunch of snack bars, nicer pool, quiet lobby). I enjoyed the sports bar at Coba. If my only option was to stick to the Sian Ka'an section of the resort and beach, I probably wouldn't visit this resort again. Since you get access to all resorts, it made up for it. I would go again and I would still prefer Sian Ka'an just for the peaceful sleep at night. One thing that was strange was a lot of "soda/pop guns" were not working at many areas that served drinks. They would give you pop from a plastic bottle and the pop would be flat. Not sure why that was but it sure makes a big difference when having a mixed drink. I also think they need better beer options. Dos equis lager and amber on tap, amstel ultra in your fridge. Was at the Sunset Princess a year ago and they had two modelos and corona options in can and on tap.

    Highly recommend!

This was my second time going to Sian Ka’an. I recommend it for people that want to relax and chill out. Sian Ka’an is adults only and it is very calm. It’s a beautiful hotel with the best hospitality I have ever gotten. Everyone makes you feel at home.

4th visit to Sian Ka’an worst experience ever … Please read entire review

No hot water in bathroom for first 5 days (of 7 night stay). Had maintenance come 3 different days. My wife complained at front desk and the staff made her walk back to our room at the far end of the Adult Section and climb stairs to penthouse suite to prove the water was cold. Very insulting. Staff had filed service reports and still not fixed - and they did not believe us. We also did not have hot water in our rooftop lounge hot tub. We had no hot showers and no hot tub for 5 days. The room was 18 degrees and freezing - only had 1 blanket. Staff who filled the mini fridge never left the standard selection - guessing game. When we first arrived we received the first night reservation for dinner -but were told there was no openings for any other night - told to come back every morning and ask again. Definitely not 5 star service. We asked every day and waited around - finally got bookings. This was supposed to be a relaxing holiday (wife’s and my birthday celebration) but NOT relaxing. NO rep on site from WestJet. We asked front desk staff to find so we could get info on departure. Never saw this person. No signage at Hospitality Room with rep name or schedule. No booklet available for us to check departure. At checkout we waited for the bus to take us to airport. No bus. Staff called other buildings looking for our bus. The bus was sitting at another area of the complex - waiting to leave After 4 visits to Bahia Principe - brought family on 3 visits - don’t want to return again - don’t want to bring any others here…. So disappointed. Staff are nice - food is good (but needs revision). Received 2.5 star service. Bahia Principe let us down. Just received your response (Senor Canche) I believe you post for all travellers to read so I will not post. 1. Maintenance did come to our room and ran all (shower+sink+vanity) taps for 20-25 minutes. NO HOT WATER. 2. I was shown a water temp of 53 degrees F. (Not hot). 3.Maintenance visits were recorded in a log/journal as stated by Front Desk Staff. 4. NO ONE called us back the next day(s). We had to call again and complain. Maintenance supervisor did not follow up after each reporting. NO HOT WATER occurred every day for 5 days. We heard from other guests that 4 buildings (not rooms) also had no hot water.. Finally, in your response/your staff never apologized to my wife for insulting her and having her walk back to the room, up to 3rd floor and then back to the lobby. Front desk staff said this was wrong. You said nothing. A $100 USD credit for what we paid for (and didn’t receive) is the final insult. Top management can contact me anytime. Good Day.

    Great Holiday

Really nice hotel and amazing super friendly staff. Check in was all in advance via their app (which you will nee) reception was easy and friendly when we arrived. Rooms - we had a superior suite, to be honest it was tired and dated, there were some issues but it was not too bad, plenty of space and we didn’t spend much time in the room. Pools - they were cold but it was December (apparently they’re warm April-September) Sun loungers were plentiful but very low and uncomfortable. Pools drink service was good and pool cenote restaurant was ok for a light breakfast or lunch, Buffet restaurant - great with super friendly staff and great choice of food , especially breakfast Lobby Bar - good, gets busy in the evenings and not enough chairs outside for the entertainment (which was very good) Hotel grounds are really nice and well maintained. You can use the other hotels and restaurants too, the special restaurants get booked up fast. There is a shuttle service to the other hotels and the size of the site was immense ! Much bigger than we ever expected, but all in all a great stay
