Melia All-Inclusive is a Bait and Switch - Not Real All Inclusive
I don’t typically leave reviews, but my experience of Paradisus Cancun was NO WHERE near what I hoped or expected, especially given the cost. By no means was everything awful. The public spaces in the resort were largely quite lovely and pleasant to be in. The resort was large and didn't feel overly crowded, though around meal times the parts of the resort where most of the restaurants were could get quite busy. The spa was small but nice and the massage therapists were fantastic. It felt like certain staff members went above and beyond and some of the food was quite tasty. But that’s kind of where the pleasantness ends. The whole resort in a lot of ways felt like a bait and switch. We bought into the premium all-inclusive package, or The Reserve, as they call it, which supposedly included access to an adult only area in the resort, premium alcohol and food, and a private concierge. The adult only area was fine, though not particularly large, and the private concierge was helpful, but even though we were lead to believe that we would have access to everything as part of the Reserve, we would discover later that premium alcohol was only included within the sectioned off parts of the resort, and that large chunks of every restaurant were an extra charge. Not just a supplemental charge, but paying full price. This felt like a huge betrayal of the all-inclusive mentality, and the constant up selling of these extra charge items felt quite inappropriate. God help you as well if you AREN’T part of the Reserve, because then they really slap you with extra charges for everything. Bali beds by the main hotel pool cost around $225 for the day. At least we got those included in our private section of the resort. The resort itself is quite run down and in need of renovation. We had to move rooms because our first room was full of broken things, like door handles and towel racks. Our second room was better, but still had a broken toilet seat and holes in the walls where stuff used to be. You can find things in poor condition all over the resort if you look. The rooms themselves also felt sparse and plain compared to the photos where the walls were painted and the room was smartly decorated. I’ve stayed in worse rooms, but given the cost of this place, I expected a lot better than this. Service in the resort was a mixed bag with both extreme ends of the spectrum. Some staff were incredibly helpful and attentive and seemed to want to create a nice experience, where others were very checked out, or seemed untrained and confused. The people walking around upselling excursions or asking to come listen to a 90 minute presentation selling their 'exclusive membership' (think time share but maybe worse) were also a bit much and not what you want when you're trying to relax. I feel bad because clearly some folks are trying really hard, but on the whole their effort is not enough to make up for all the short comings of this place. Tldr: this place is pretty on the surface, but it’s run down and not a true all-inclusive resort in the end, instead it’s one where only half of the offerings are actually included and you’ll get pushed towards spending more money at every turn.

Our experience at The Reserve was very satisfying.
It was a pleasure to work with our personal concierge, Manuel and pool concierge’s, Victor and David. They were reliable and made our trip even more enjoyable. The Santé restaurant was very good and service was great. Julio was a wonderful bartender in The Atrium. We would highly recommend anyone looking for a relaxing honeymoon destination.

Great Warm Family Christmas Vacation
Inclusive was great. Awesome Christmas buffet! All the workers are kind. Especially Armando Candelavio Manuel at the Malva restaurant team, always gave special attention. The cabanas on the beach and poll had an extra charge, but worth all the excellent food and service. Hotel has a few leaks if it rains a lot.
