Bad Bayahíbe Bite Experience - 3* at best hotel Review
Just returned from a week staying at this hotel in the adults side. Before we left we requested a room change due to going through a breakup, I changed the booking to my sister but we were unable to change this and even asking if there was enclave or other options but didn’t have anything to offer to change the room booked to twin bedroom. Upon returning I’ve had to go straight to my GP as I am covered in sandfly bites and so is my sister, this is even after using deet insect repellent spray - in total I have 27 bites on my legs from insects that weren’t even visible. We didn’t stay in the enclave and was advised to upgrade was an additional $45 per person a day which seemed ridiculous to us considering the enclave pools were overcrowded and didn’t appear to get much benefits from the upgrade. Although we booked to stay on the adults side we found we actually preferred the family side pools because they were quieter and less busy. People would be reserving their sunbeds from 7am so, if you hadn’t found a space at the adult pool by 7.30am you’d likely not find a bed there for the day - even in enclave and on the beach. The hotel staff would sometimes remove towels off the beds in less than an hour ( they state they remove towels if left for an hour) - we went for lunch for half an hour on the beach and returned to our towels being removed and clips left on sunbeds which another family then had taken over. The hotel staff were hit and miss, some days we had great experiences in restaurants and other times, the staff seemed really rude and unhelpful or, forgetting to put out cutlery and ask for what drink you want. Some staff didn’t speak English which became a bit of a challenge to communicate some issues we had. There was a gecko which was in our room on the first couple days and the reception staff sent someone up who couldn’t understand a word of English and we felt unsettled then for the remainder of our stay not knowing if it would reappear. We also didn’t have plugs working but they did fix these for us. The hotel entertainment was awful and didn’t match what they said was on, it was also all over on the family side and would be on quite late after 9.30pm and on grass - the seating set up was awful and was on pull out chairs so we just didn’t feel comfortable after getting bitten to be sitting there in evenings. We felt like the hotel staff kept trying to sell us things such as spa packages, wine, excursions etc and didn’t enjoy being asked on a daily basis and told each day there’s a different amount 20/30/40% off on things, it just seemed made up and was quite annoying. The shop had limited souvenirs which the quality was poor - if you’re looking to get anything, I would say wait and get it from the airport on the return home as prices are much the same and quality is better and more choice. Overall, I wouldn’t rate this a 5* or even 4* having stayed at some much better resorts. Although we did have a nice holiday, food and drinks were good, everything else lacked and now I’m as itchy as ever with these bites!

recommend this property for your vacation
This resort was a great 7 day vacation with friends travelling Dec 1. The weather was excellent with sun shining and hot temperatures. The ocean was clean, warm, calm and we did some snorkeling at the pier. The pools were all large, warm, clean and perfect. We were all very happy with our rooms, as the beds were comfortable and clean with the maids doing an excellent job each and every day. The bathrooms were perfect with no complaints and showers were roomy and hot each day. Our entire group was very happy with the food at the buffets and each of the a la carte restaurants with no one getting ill. I loved the layout of this resort as it provided lots of places to walk with gardens and grass around. The water park and lazy river provided some entertainment for us for2 days as well as a day trip to the island, a taxi trip to town for 4 hours and a walk down the beach 10 minutes for a cool drink at the bar. Interesting to note that I only had to visit the front desk upon arrival and departure because we absolutely had no issues that required any assistance! I am certainly recommending this property for a vacation.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience for 4+ star hotel. Food is cheap and not tasty. Service is hit or miss, entertainment is mediocre. And it stops at 10:30pm. Unacceptable for adult only. Family part hs a better entertainment. Completely stupid rules such as you cannot play a pool in a game room because it’s for teenagers. And this is at 11:30pm. Many other issues like rude staff, no breakfast or lunch restaurants unless you’re in Enclave. Bottom line: don’t bother and never again

Disappointing second visit
This is our second time at this hotel, we were previously here in June last year and throughly enjoyed ourselves so returned for another holiday. unfortunately, this time we have been left quite disappointed. pros: - We booked the enclave and used the enclave pool everyday. The girls behind the bar, Evelin, Rosanny and Olga were fantastic. Always remembering our names and having a laugh with us! - The Dominican restaurant and the asian restaurant were the best restaurants at the hotel. - The Dominican restaurant had fantastic food along with a great atmosphere of the music and at times a live show throughout the night. - The asian restaurant again had fantastic food that was very flavourful and the staff in there were always happy. We had one incident where the food came out cold but this was quickly resolved and new food came out within minutes. - The cakes and coffee from the coffee shop were delicious! - We had the butler experience again and were given Michael as we had him last year. No matter what we wanted he made it happen. Unfortunately this year there seems to be more cons than pros: - In most of the restaurants the food did not come out hot it was only lukewarm or cold. As the holiday went by it was more common to get cold food than hot. - As previously stated we stayed by the enclave pool everyday, the music at this pool was awful. Repetitive music that was the same everyday. Our room was by the infinity pool so would be able to hear the music there when returning to our room. The music at the infinity pool was so much better than the music by the enclave pool. - This time around there is more of a push to purchase items that last year did not cost. At nearly all of the restaurants we would be given a wine list or everyday by the pool told about the romantic dinners and being pushed to look at them. - This year it seems as there has been a massive change around in staff, some unfortunately appear to have an attitude issue and make a small request seem like a big one. - We ate in the Noor restaurant twice and both times had a bad experience. The first time we ate at the restaurant we all had steaks. We were asked to cut into the steak before we ate it to make sure the temperature was correct, which we never have been asked this before wherever we have been. One steak was ordered medium rare but came out raw. The waiter then said no that it was medium rare and was not listening and not accepting it to be raw. As mentioned we had the butler service and and relayed this to Michael. We also mentioned to him the QR code in the restaurant did not work and the steak knives we were given were blunter than the normal knives on the table. We went to the Noor again and had steaks again to see if it would be any better. The knives were unfortunately still blunt so all of us struggled to cut into the ribeye steak. The manager of the restaurant came over to see why one family member was not eating her steak, to which we responded she can't cut it and the manager proceeded to laugh. That family member decided to give up trying to cut the steak and we decided to leave the restaurant. As we left out waiter started shouting as to why she hadn't eaten her steak and started to become quite passive aggressive towards her. There was also an atmosphere in the restaurant which made dining very uncomfortable. One thing we did notice is that if you are a vegetarian or vegan you may struggle to eat here as many of the restaurants do not have good options. We hate to leave disappointing reviews but felt as returning guests that this time it left us disappointed.

Beautiful Relaxing Vacation
We spent a week on the Adult side in an Enclave Swim out room. We are diamond members, we didn't realize that we would have been gifted the Enclave benefits before we arrived, we paid for them. I believe in return they provided us with a Butler, Victor, free of charge. Victor was amazing! He made booked our excursions, car service when we left the result for a night out and made sure we had coolers of beer and water. He also surprised us on our second to last day with tropical drinks served inside a pineapple! What a treat. Our Swim out room was in building 2, I did like this location as it seemed like we were in the middle of the adult side. One side of the building was the adult Enclave pool and the other side was the adult regular pool. Both pools were wonderful. We did hang out in the Enclave pool more, as we were always able to find chairs and the bartenders were excellent. Shout out to Wendy Diaz, he made great frozen mojitos! We also, only went to the adult Enclave beach, lots of shade available and were always able to find chairs. The water was clear in the mornings, perfect to float. We did bring out own floats, i would recommend bringing floats as it made it more relaxing. One morning we walked into town via the beach to find a grocery store. We felt safe, but the walk there you will walk between boats, rocks, water etc. wear shoes as there is lots of broken glass along the way once you leave the resort. We did book a day trip to Isle Catalina through the hotel/Victor with Scuba Caribe. Must do! Great snorkeling, the softest sand I have ever felt and so many shades of blue in the water, it can only be scene not described. Fernando & Pedro made the trip!!! So Fun, lots of Rum, and plenty of fish to see. The food was ok, some days it was excellent other days not so great, if you didn't like something they were happy to bring something else. You never went hungry. We didn't go for the food, we went for the company of our friends, relaxation and delicious drinks! I would highly recommend the resort, as a great place to relax.
