    Amazing Birthday Trip

We visited Sunscape January 25-29, 2025 for my husband’s birthday and were traveling with his brother and wife. We all upgraded to Sunclub which was worth it for the upgraded rooms, alcohol, sunclub pool, sunclub lounge for dedicated check in and out and basically anything else you need. Now I had read many many many awful review and was anxious about our trip but I have also traveled to many island and know some people are just unable to be pleased. Well that the case here. No this isn’t a 5 star resort but it doesn’t advertise to be that. The location, staff and overall vibe of the resort is amazing and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Can’t forget the entertainment staff…. Candy man and crazy G were so fun and always got the crown involved and remembered your name. If you booked Sunscape Curacao don’t listen to the negativity and go enjoy the sunshine and amazing people that work there. I can’t wait to go back and I definitely will!

    Horrendous

Absolutely awful place. Check in concierge service was horrible. We walked into a packed room with no Air conditioning. Checked in the room. Fridge barely worked, A burn spot on the toilet seat looked like a crap stain and the air conditioner barely worked. The filter was spewing out dust. Paid extra for the sun club. Fully stocked fridge”NOT” We ate at our private sun club breakfast spot and a pigeon fell off the material canopy dead on to the table. Buffet was like a jailhouse lounge the food basic. Mashed potatoes were my favorite 🤣 that’s all I ate for 3 days. Specialty dinners are out. People were on line 3 hours before opening and they only had seating for approximately 40 people. Sink was clogged as I washed my face and there’s only 1 shower door so I flooded the bathroom . Staff has no personality. No-one smiled or said hi. There’s NO night life/ entertainment. All of my issues were brought up to the concierge but nothing was done. After 3 days of misery we got a call that my FIL passed unexpectedly. That was our out. We changed our flights and we were out. We received no compensation. I wrote letters and provided the death certificate. But lesson learned. I am no princess. I have been all around the world. With no complaints. This place was horrible. I’d rather go Camping in the woods.

    Great time at Sunscape Curaçao

Just returned from Sunscape Curaçao for my 9th time. Never mind Don’t let negative reviews deter you from going to this resort. The biggest complaint I hear about this resort is the food, I am probably the world’s most pickiest eater, and I definitely do not starve when I am there. Pay the extra for Sun club, you have an exclusive pool and bar for sun club members. Zoraida The bartender at the sun club bar is absolutely fantastic. Yes, it’s an older resort, and could use some updates, but the new management seems to be making changes. The rooms are dated, but they are clean, I had hot water for a shower. The beach is absolutely fantastic, you can snorkel right from the beach. The staff are fantastic. So welcoming and always willing to help. Already planning my next trip back

Don't waste the extra money on the Sun Club!!!

We were at the Sunscape Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino 6 years ago and enjoyed it so much that my husband and I came back and decided to upgrade to the Sun Club and pay the extra for an Deluxe King Oceanview. I am writing to tell you not to waste your money. This resort is situated in an ideal location and the servers in all the restaurants were all very friendly and welcoming. The food at the buffet was very good with lots of variety and friendly servers, like Ana. The person(s) at the Sun Club bar in Section 8 were excellent and the cleaning staff and maintenance crew always friendly. The people running the Sun Club however, were not. When we first checked in we were told our room was in Section 3. I questioned this because the Sun Club is located in Section 8. We were told by Shavol (^) that only honeymooners got the Deluxe King Oceanview in Section 8. Well we found out later that was not true because we met people, not on their honeymoon, who had such a room in Section 8. (Do they think that people don’t talk to other people on vacation?) Every time I went into the Premium Lounge to ask a question I was always treated like I was intruding on them as they sat behind the computer. I was never greeted with a “Can I help you.” The Premium lounge was never stocked with red wine and when I asked was told they "ran out". I think that Shavol (^) didn't want to get off the computer and go look, and how do you run out of wine at an all inclusive resort??? This happened more than once. I did voice this complaint on social media and Hyatt did get back to me saying someone would address this the next day. This did not happen. Hyatt is definitely not living up the their Mission Statement “We give our guests our full attention every day, always guided by the goal of forging an authentic connection to meet the unique needs of each guest”. There were never enough glasses at the bar and as a wine drinker I was always given my wine in a cup. A small thing but if you are a wine drinker you understand. The one thing we really enjoyed last time was the entertainment. This time it started way too late and often the area it was in was often not accommodating to a large crowd. There were not as many people handling the entertainment as before. The Fire Show, however was EXCELLENT! I am not sure if the decline of the property is because it has been taken over by Hyatt and they are not spending the time or money to replace and fix things up. Our Deluxe King Oceanview had a view of the ocean over the palm trees and was too close to the entertainment so very noisy. The balcony I am sure would be condemned if it were inspected and should be replaced. The workers are constantly cleaning the outside and I believe trying their best but sometimes a bandage isn’t the solution. Hyatt needs to sink more money into this gem. As I stated we were at the Sunscape Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino 6 years ago and the only difference with the upgrade to a premium Deluxe King Oceanview and Sun Club was I received $200 worth of coupons that could not be used together so were really not worth it, unless you used the spa, and we got to sit in red chairs (although any one could really). The premium lounge was not so special and our room, aside from facing the ocean was comparable to the last one we stayed in. People who spend more want to feel that they are getting more. In this case they don’t.

Don't walk away from this resort, run!

I can't believe that Hyatt puts its name on this resort. This resort sorely needs an update. The rooms are dumpy. I went with a large group on a dive trip and most of us had some issue with our rooms. Mine had a cold shower (took one for 3 days, a broken safe, and a non-functioning outdoor lock). Others in my group had similar problems along with lamps that didn't work, no blow dryers in the room or missing bottle openers (the maid told them to use the door lock to open their beer). I also had medication stolen out of my room so make sure your safe works and your stuff is locked up. It is hit or miss if you will get a friendly staff member to help you. Even if they are friendly, they probably will not give you correct information. As for the food, it is gross. The only thing this place has to offer is the spa. I can't say enough great things about the massages I had. Yes, I had 2 during the week I was there. The staff at the spa were friendly and helpful and the massages were very good. I appreciated the spa so much, I tipped the wonderful woman that worked at their front desk. She deserved it in the sea of unpleasantness that the surrounding resort provides.
