  Terrible Experience — Stay Anywhere Else

  I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but our stay at the Courtyard Marriott Waikīkī was absolutely awful from start to finish. First, the property is completely run down and under major construction, which we were not made aware of before booking. The pool was closed and unusable, and one of the buildings had no working elevators — completely unacceptable, especially for guests traveling with luggage or mobility concerns. The rooms were tiny, outdated, and dirty. The bathrooms were old, cramped, and badly in need of renovation. The bedroom was so small we could barely move around, and basic amenities like electrical outlets and lamps didn’t even work. On top of the terrible facilities, the staff was shockingly unprofessional. The front desk and manager were rude, dismissive, and totally unhelpful any time we raised concerns. Bell services were lazy, standing around on their phones instead of assisting guests with their bags. This is hands down one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The only thing good about this hotel is the location — but there are so many better options in Waikīkī. Save your money, your time, and your sanity and book somewhere else.

  Average at best

  My third stay and going down hill. The bar had no happy hour and no longer tied to the hotel. Neither is the restaurant so no breakfast included. Gym is the same. Clean but nothing special. Hotel is loud and there was a constant smell in the hallway. The last two days they drained the pool? Top it off a destination fee… for what? I’ll pick a different Marriott property for my next visit.

  Convenient Spot in Waikiki, But Lacking in Comfort

  We recently stayed at the Courtyard Waikiki Beach and overall, it was a fairly average experience. The location is central and within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and, of course, the beach—which is definitely a plus. However, there were several aspects of the stay that felt below the standard we’ve come to expect from Marriott properties. The lobby appears to have been recently updated and has a more modern, refreshed look. Unfortunately, that renovations to the rooms could have been a little better. There seemed to be newer paint and countertops, but just an average interior. It didn’t feel up to par with the Marriott brand, and overall, the space gave more of a motel vibe than a hotel. Noise was another issue we encountered. The area around the hotel tends to be a bit loud, and the walls are quite thin. We could hear people in neighboring rooms and hallway activity, which made it tough to get a restful night’s sleep. It’s not the hotel’s fault that the area is busy, but better soundproofing would go a long way. Another minor inconvenience was the ice machine being located on a different floor—not a huge deal, but something you wouldn’t expect from a property under the Marriott umbrella. To be fair, we didn’t run into any major problems during our stay. The staff was polite, and everything functioned as it should. That said, for the price point, we just expected more. The value didn’t quite match what we received in terms of comfort or quality. If you’re mainly looking for location and don’t mind older accommodations, it could still work for you. But overall, we probably wouldn’t choose this hotel again unless it goes through a full room renovation.

  Don’t waste your money

  Internet was slow- when it worked. Rooms are outdated, badly designed, and not the cleanest. Things are in bad shape, hallways smell musty. Valet is expensive, fees add up. Usually a long line at the front desk. Would not recommend- spend your money elsewhere

  Bring your ear plugs!

  This Marriott Courtyard does not meet the standards of a Marriott Courtyard. Marriott and ergo Courtyard, to me, means a certain standard. I don’t usually provide reviews but travellers should know that this is a noisy location. I am not talking about the renovations going on upstairs. It’s external noise, mainly street noise to the very wee hours, (you need ear plugs to sleep) plus other nearby room entry doors require a lot of slam/force to close. The windows/sliding doors are likely original construction and do not mitigate any noise. Frankly, it’s an older property and it’s worn. I wasn’t fussed about the fact that we had cleaning once over 5 days. It was supposed to be every 2 days but again not an issue. On the plus side, the hotel is well located, nice reception, has friendly staff, the elevator is quick, comfortable bed, a lovely small pool with a bus stop just outside.
