Great location, great staff but the room was not awesome
So I just spent 8 nights in this hotel, the staff were fantastic, the location is great but our room was not brilliant. It was clean and tidy however we were put in a room with not one but two adjoining doors to the rooms in either side of us. The issue is that there is zero noise insulation and as such I was woken every morning by people coughing, blowing their noses and other noises we don’t want to talk about. Unfortunately this was not a one or two morning issue, it happened every morning. Going to sleep was a similar experience with people talking, yelling and again other noises that we shall not talk about. To top it off our room opened not the elevator landing so we got to hear everyone leaving or coming back from the days activity. I would not avoid the hotel however if you get one of these rooms I would strongly recommend that you see if it could be changed.

Very relaxing stay.
Had a great trip ! We stayed on the 21 floor. Lorna cleaned our room and always remembered what type of tea we liked and also gave me some extra books to read. She really made a difference, very friendly. Thanks! The pool and area was great. The pool guys quickly cleaned up the chairs that people had dropped towels on the chairs to save while they go to the beach for hours. That was really a small but good thing. As the people that wanted to enjoy the pool had a great choice of chairs. We always had a chair to choose from. The hotel is very centrally located. Beside international Marketplace and across from the beach. The staff were very friendly. 10 out of 10. We will come back and stay here at the Princess Kaiulani. Only negative , Pool drinks were pricy.

Decent hotel - if you can get to or from your room.
The hotel was clean, staff was friendly. The room was OK - nothing special, average king bed, dresser, desk chair. Had a balcony with a nice view of city and ocean. Room was made up every day which was nice. Three turn-offs that would keep me from returning. 1. Wi-Fi was spotty at best. Often didn't work. 2. Parking. Fee was $45/day. Had about 6 levels. There was elevator access on top floor. On any other floor you had to walk down stairs and go to the lobby to get an elevator. 3. Elevators. We stayed in the tower on the 24th floor. There were three working elevators. We could wait up to 10 minutes for an elevator, and on many occasions the elevator would go right past the floor without stopping. It became a joke among people on the elevator. In an area where all hotels are expensive, I'd make a different choice for a hotel with easier access to my room. And to parking.

This hotel should be a no-go for Bonvoy Elite Members
This is a no-go for Bonvoy Elite Members as there are few benefits and lots of extra charges. Management was not visible and seemed check-out. As a Titanium member I was denied 4pm check-out. I know this is a resort so they have a waiver, but 11am is crazy. I was able to "negotiate" a 1pm checkout on the day of departure. Hardly a good way for Marriott to recognize customers who've been extremely loyal. Elite breakfast is a Marriott / Kyo-ya scam: asking exactly what the breakfast option entailed at check-in was met with vague response and a comment they didn't have a copy of the special menu they could find. Asking the bartender at the restaurant the night before was similar vague details. At breakfast, it turns out you get either the continental breakfast (pastry, yogurt, fruit cup and 1 beverage) OR you can choose from a limited number of menu items that have been discounted by about $8-10 from their list price. You can't use the value of the continental against menu items, so things like the avocado toast are full-price only. I did appreciate they also had a take-away option at the bar where you could get the continental breakfast items to-go. A reminder that a report fee applies to all guests, no matter elite status or using points or paid. Another Marriott / Kyo-ya scam as there is truly nothing of value in the resort fee (a big contrast to Hyatt who waives their fees for top elites). I see the good in upgrading the tower elevators and appreciated the printed sheet given at check-in showing how to use the service elevators. Yet, the escalator from ground to 2nd floor was broken and they still had the other going up, so anyone on the 2nd floor couldn't use the escalator and had to wait for the elevators. Why not shut down the working escalator and let people use it as stairs both up/down? They did a nice job on the renovated rooms and common area carpeting, but you can tell nothing structural was improved (showers, electrical, etc.) In the Starwood/SPG days, Kyo-ya was an honest company running their iconic properties in Waikiki with integrity, quality and a decent value. But under Marriott they seem to have thrown it all aside for greed.

Great experience except for the noise
First the positives. The staff was amazing. Truly world class in every area, from housekeeping to dining, we had no complaints. The hotel is very clean and though dated a little, they are actively updating. The gym and pool are also top-rate. The location is also really good for just about every activity. There is also plenty of parking if you need it, at $45. The negatives…. I am a lifetime Platinum and current Titanium member. Needless to say, I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. This is the most consistently noisy hotel I have ever stayed at. It’s louder than the airport hotels I have stayed. The music from the adjoining properties, especially on the west side is just too much. I am on the 24th floor and it’s constant bass, even right now at 1135pm. I know the Sheraton doesn’t control the outside noise, but this is ridiculous. Maybe some additional sound proofing? Or maybe put young people on the west side… I’m not sure. What am sure of is I will never stay in a room on the west side again.
